Town Out to End Home Run on High Note Against Charlton
Meanwhile in the Charlton training session, Lee Bowyer says:
‘Well guys I know we got beat by the bottom club on Tue but the good news is we have Ipswich on Sat’
(Massive cheer from the team)
‘They are suspect at the back, lightweight in midfield and toothless up front so all we need to do is turn up, let them have most of the possession and then nick a goal or two and the three points is ours! Simples!’
Blue Action Call For Lambert Exit
I’ve lost any faith in Lambert, he is inept, deluded and a poor tactician but I’m really sceptical that changing just the manager will make much difference unless we can attract a really top manager which seems very unlikely.
The players we have do have the capability to play better and in different formations with the right coaching and tactics. We also need to investigate our training and fitness regime to reduce the ridiculous number of injuries we have.
I fear Lambert will stay put and become more and more alienated by the fans especially when they return as spectators. This will not help our team’s results in home games which up until the Hull game was pretty good even though the performances weren’t.
Ipswich Town 0-3 Hull City - Match Report
Predicted 0-2 but it was worse than the score line suggests. The team are littered with lightweights with young McGavin being the best of a bad bunch. Norwood ran around like a loon but had zero service.
Lambert is tactically inept, has no plan A let alone plan B. Hull aren’t that great but we made them look good.
We are heading mid table and will stay there unless there are radical changes. Changing the manager alone won’t fix it as the problems are throughout the club.
Lambert: Different Game Against Hull
They way we’ve (not) been performing, our inability to beat the top sides and with key players like Edwards, Bish and Doz out, I’m sorry to be negative but I can only see one winner this evening - just hoping they will pull out the stops and prove me wrong.
Ipswich Town 2-1 Shrewsbury Town - Match Report
We needed some luck to get anything from this game today and we got lucky twice thanks to their mistakes. Happy with the 3 points but this kind of performance WILL NOT be good enough to beat Charlton or Hull so let’s hope for a big improvement for those games.
Just hope Bish’s injury is not serious as he has had enough injuries for a whole career. Woolfie must play on Tue and Sat with Wilson if fit or Toto if not. McG has a lot to learn and I’m not sure playing for Ipswich is the best place to learn atm.
Blues Host Shrews in First of Three Big Home Games
I’d be happier if Lambert went out with a more attack-minded 4-4-2 formation in these three games with Jacko and Norwood upfront, Edwards on the left and Lankester or Bennetts on the right, Bish and McGavin in the middle.
Town Third Following Saturday Fixtures
Well things certainly evened up a bit for Sunderland yesterday on poor refereeing decisions, we just 3 or 4 pens in our favour to even things up for us.
If we can get 7 pets from our next 3 games I’d be happy. Charlton will be the toughest test yet I think.
Crawley Town 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
Surely if Lambert wanted to give our young players more experience of playing games like this (which I applaud) the whole point would be to stay in the competition for as long as possible so they get more than one or two games. Therefore he should’ve mixed in enough senior fringe players to win the game and qualify for the next round but no, he knows best!
Crawley Town 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
Yes it’s a pointless trophy, yes it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things this season but it underlines the continuing decline of our club for me as apart from our ladies team, there is nothing for us fans to cheer about. Lamberts total disregard of any cup competition is very disappointing.
Cornell: I'm Ready to Fight For the Shirt
From what I’ve seen of Cornell, he is second best to Holy by quite some way. The way he set his wall up on Sat was unforgivable- you could have driven the proverbial Bus through the gap!
Ipswich Town 2-3 Portsmouth - Match Report
Positives: Nolan knows where the goal is, Norwood is back and scored and McGavin looked good
Negatives: Ref decisions went against us again, we looked second best at the beginning and in ET, Cornell, Donacien and Kenlock don’t look like suitable replacements for Holy, Chambers and Ward, Huws and Sears were very poor (both of which I regarded as being Championship quality players in the past), we can’t win a cup match to save our lives and the manager and team don’t seem bothered.
Can’t wait to have Woolfie and Downes back plus Norwood and Jackson playing together again.
Lambert: Totally Wrong That the Three Kids Had Made Fewer Than 100 League Starts
If Skuse had been fit and Downes had not had his head turned by Palace, I doubt Doz and Bish would’ve played that many games so he’s played them out of necessity rather than choice IMHO.
We’ll see what happens when both of the aforementioned players are fit again.
Also think Lambert will always pick Judge or Edwards (playing out of position) over Lankester.
Sunderland 2-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
Yes we were robbed of a point tonight cos of a bad penalty decision but we’ll never know if we could’ve won the game if Doz hadn’t been sent off. Personally I doubt that particular bad decision made much difference.
The fact remains that, like not winning an East Anglian derby for so long, the longer it goes on that we don’t beat any of our promotion rivals, the harder psychologically it becomes and the less likely we are to be in the top six come May.
Our players and the manager don’t seem to be able to move up a gear when it’s needed and win games from losing positions which is a true sign of a team with belief and determination.
Not being negative, just being realistic and saying things as I see it.
Ipswich Town 1-0 Crewe Alexandra - Match Report
We sure know how to win ugly and completely unconvincingly.
Great to win but why can’t we play attractive exciting football as well? It’s not like we haven’t got the players.
Got to start winning against top 6 sides and Tue is our opportunity.
McCarthy Set For APOEL Nicosia
At least we won’t have to listen to his drivel as a TV pundit/co-commentator for a while. Sorry but I have no time for the guy.
Evans: Town Knew They Had a Battering, the Best Side Lost
Whenever I have a downer on Lambo, I just think how much worse it could be if Steve Evans was our manager. If that did ever happen (perish the thought), I would probably take some timeout as a fan until he got sacked or exploded into a cloud of his own flatulence!
