Ex-Blue Murphy Set to Return to Hometown Club
at 21:24:47

That’s that put to bed then. Still think we need a target man just to offer something different. Keane just wasn’t it. Wonder if Drinan could be that man and save us some money

Town Linked With Irish Youngster McNally

I’m not a hoofball fan but I think it’s a case of horses for courses. In league one I think having some
Aerial threat is good at the top of the premier league because of the style of play, not so much. Look at naaarich. Won the championship last year, playing their same style, bottom
Of the prem. their style isn’t suited to the prem as well as it was the championship. We have no style hence we’re suited to no division at the moment 😭

We Should Encourage the Club and the League to Stream All Games
at 20:39:03

There is a lot of other revenue from match days and I have literally no idea how much. I wonder if the club can stream games themselves without iFollow and try and have advertising on their, interactive elements for fans etc. But I hadn’t thought about the families paying one streaming instead of individuals-good point. It’s not ideal and there’s flaws with my plan (mainly as I’m on the outside with no knowledge of the clubs P&L (much like the tax man!)).
It would be nice wouldn’t it though if the best supported clubs made the most money and not have teams with literally no fans being in the premier league just because of tv money

Town Linked With Irish Youngster McNally

Keane literally has cinderblocks for feet. Murphy was quite tall, berra definitely was tall. Norwood isn’t. But yes specifically we need a couple more players who can win the ball in the air as we have no one at present who does that-whatever their height.
I love the fist pump but last year chambers form was erratic and this year it’s not been great but who have we got that’s better than him or challenges him to fight for his place? Nsiala? No

Town Linked With Irish Youngster McNally

ITFCsince73 - Holy can't go up for corners. We have no height in the team apart from him and Woolfenden (who doesn't look tall but the internet says he is!). In this division, I'd say we're lacking height. As dull as times were under Mick, we were a threat at set pieces in no small part thanks to the height of Berra and Smith and Murphy.

Always happy to have players linked - especially promising youngsters. But we need some tall centre backs and a target man - so I hope this kid is tall! And maybe we give Drinan a go in pre season

O'Neill: Lambert a Part of the Club's Plans Going Forward

If Lambert were to go - any suggestions on who could replace him? Please don't anyone say Burley and let's have some realistic suggestions - I mean we'd all like Klopp but...!

Lambert: I Think They'll Go for Points Per Game
at 17:27:30

Fair comments from Lambert.

I hope we do get to play out the season - whatever happens - as we all want to see our team and players progress and the staff need more time to make squad assessments on next season. Plus, any stop now situation means we definitely aren't going to make the play offs instead of almost definitely aren't - and us Town fans love a bit of hope!

Former Blue Smith in Limbo
at 17:22:30

For his aerial ability in both boxes, I'd never have let him go and would bring him back now IF he's fit and IF we can move on Nsiala. But I'd really like to hear from him how his departure came about. It still puzzles me. Bit like why did we allow Berra to leave on a free and pay Delaney to leave?!

Options Not Taken on Keane, Roberts and Rowe But Deals Could Still Be Offered
at 13:22:30

Sensible moves for me. Roberts off the books even on a low wage frees up wage money for a better player or different position. Same with Rowe who I've just not been impressed with (likes to go forward but not backwards). Keane like others have said is decent - he just doesn't fit. If Norwood and Jackson are our main strikers, I don't think he offers as much as them or anything different so best to free up those wages too.

Don't expect replacements though folks, unless we sell and sell big, we won't be spending any money so will be on the look out for the odd free or loan

My Best Town XI: George Burley - Part Two
at 23:06:39

Loved reading this. It contains two of my favourites in Micky Stockwell and Mark Venus. Venus was the first centre back I’ve ever seen dribble the ball out like a midfielder. A bit Tony Adams esque if you like by without the big nose or drinking problem. Micky is the greatest right back of my era. Over wilnis, zondervan, Wright. Not much competition is it but he was immense up and down that right side.
Dunno why burley only ever succeeded at Ipswich. I also think is going down had more
To do with redeveloping the north stand that season than anything else!

Jermaine Wright was like Skuse today-under rated but also didn’t consistently show his best.
Dyer, Petta, Reuser-they were some special players in my era. Dyer was more consistent injuries aside but loved watching all 3. I’d have given sixto peralta an honourable mention too.

Why as a club are we so good at finding left backs yet it’s taken us years to find another good right back?!

Former Boss McCarthy Leaves Ireland Job
at 10:44:47

Michael 101. Ryan Fraser, Tom Lawrence, Tyrone Mings, Keifer Moore, Carter vickers, Murphy, waghorn, McGoldrick. I’d say he did well to identify those players, bring them in on loan or for very little, improve their form and sell them on for a profit or send them back improved players. So in that sense he’d make a good director of football. What’s so hard to understand?

Bring him back as Director of football. He has an eye for talent but not good at fan relationships or getting teams playing attractive football

Lambert: Everybody at the Club is Suffering
at 09:12:42

I do feel like the current squad of players and those available game to game (injuries, suspensions, fitness all play a valid part) could be playing better.
However, it's no coincidence this bad run of form coincided with KVY getting injured after such an invigorating start to his Town career. I also think the squad is not balanced and not good enough to be in the top 6. Yes we have some very good players - but not enough in the right positions and not the right kind of players for this division. It's horses for courses. Just look at Sheff Utd - and countless other teams actually - a player can get you promoted (Billy Sharp) but that doesn't mean he's the right player for the next league. Well what we really needed this year was a set of giant centre backs and a forward who can win headers and hold the ball up or knock it down for our plethora of quick midfielders to get on to. We sadly have neither.
I would try and sell a lot of our midfielders in the summer and raise funds through sales of Downes and Woolfenden (sadly as would love to keep them but reality bites) and redress the balance of the squad - whoever the manager is.
If I was Evans - I'd be coming out now saying he backs Lambert and will support him to change the squad in the summer - else why give him a 5 year contract right? That doesn't mean to say I want Lambert to stay - but I do think the club needs stability. So either get rid now and panic bring someone in with an outside/slim chance of making the play offs or stick with him and back him and maybe his demeanor improves and the team improves. I'd keep Chambers and Skuse - useful players at times but good for the players coming through - ideally though they'd be squad players not starters though but that would require us to bring in better players!

Lambert Not Giving Up on Top Two Finish

Did he just watch the first half of the Oxford game back and then stop? Because yes we missed chances but our first half performance was totally different to second half

Town Down to Ninth
at 11:21:56

I know we won't win every game, but at the moment I don't know which team will turn up - the one that thumped Burton (despite going a goal down) or the one that failed to beat Oxford (and went to bits after going a goal down). So can we have a super computer predict that for us please?!
Something is broken - we're drifting into that McCarthy mode where the manager is pals with the players and there's no real pressure to win and we just drift away. About time Lambert gave the players a Scottish rocket up the backside and the players took ownership and go out and give their all every game and just see what happens. If we stay down - we will lose youngsters no doubt but we need to be smarter and just bring in players specifically to get us out of this division - just like Newcastle did when they were in the Championship (e.g. bringing in Murphy for a year with no intention of playing him in the Prem)

Vincent-Young Could Be Two or Three Weeks Away From Return
at 13:31:48

I've got no right to say this because I really haven't seen him play enough, but I had really high hopes for Dozzell but it just doesn't look like it's going to happen for him at Ipswich. As good as Bishop is, for him to come straight back in ahead of Dozzell after injury speaks volumes about how Lambert views the pair. And for me personally, Nolan just isn't good enough and we should never have bought him and he gets picked over Dozzell too. So I think we'll see him move on at the end of the season. Hopefully the likes of Lankester, El Mizouni, Dobra and maybe even Nydam can be the next midfield crop to push for first team starts
