No more replays in the FA Cup from the 1st round proper
at 13:53 18 Apr 2024

Due to expanding uefa competitions...what like the trash UEFA Conference league?

Replays are a big chance for the little teams to see a big team at their local. Top level football is really becoming crap isnt it? Promotion and 1/2 seasons of playing the big boys will be amazing but i have a feeling some fans may end up welcoming a return to championship if we arent pushing for european places...

Hudderfield tickets
at 12:55 18 Apr 2024

I have only attended one game this year and havent been as regularly in recent years as i dont live close to Suffolk anymore. But i used to go to at least half home matches every season under Keane/Jewell and MM.

One thing that concerns me is 'relapsed' attendees such as myself will have absolutely zero chance of getting tickets now or if we got promoted, when it is due to personal circumstances. I am hoping the club ringfence some tickets for general sale or introduce some sort of ballot to allow fans access to a portion of seats for at least a 1/2 games per season...

Commentary
at 15:25 6 Aug 2022

Agreed. Tuned in expecting a big improvement following fan feedback and club response but its still not great.

Reminds me of ITVs Matterface, commentary is a bit dry. Lacks Brenners enthusiasm, as much as that annoys some of us!

Surely they will have to bring back the Suffolk lot for radio only, can see the club receiving lot of complaints.

Clearly the commentary was created for the TV footage.

Perhaps we could pose the question of having a seperate for radio commentary, or just get bbc Suffolk. Probably cheaper than a second team....

This commentary is absolute gash for solely audio commentary streamers. Can't put up with this for the rest of the season, nor do I want to pay for it.

I seem to remember there was an unofficial stream kindly run by a forum member a few years back on a casting site, cannot remember the name of it.

Anyone know of anything similar? Or perhaps if we all complain to the club they will offer RS commentary again via ifollow...

I miss Brenner & Mick!!! (n/t)

Agreed, just constant periods of silence and little description of what's going on and where. Plus Carlos Edwards (Co commentator I think) seems much quieter than the lead commentator.

Is there a way of getting Suffolk commentary online, obviously not in the official way as that's still not online.

Great to see new talents in the later stages.

If it was up to the majority of the wimbledon crowd (Nadal-Fritz game atm), we would have the same old players winning year after year even more than we already do. As great as the rivalry is, it would be refreshing to see it broken up a bit.

Question on buying first property (so we're pretty ignorant)
at 11:47 23 May 2022

You arent cashing in on your own home when you are dead, its something your family will cash in to benefit their own funds. Nothing against that at all- although i suspect ineheritance is not helping the gap between the have and have nots right now.

Multiple property owners are the issue, squeezing the availability of affordable housing for their own buy to let gains.

If people want to invest to speculate, maybe think of investing in something that isnt considered by many a basic need in life. Classic cars, stocks, start a business. The sooner property portfolios are seen as predatory, the better imo. Renting has become a far too acceptable way of living.

Question on buying first property (so we're pretty ignorant)
at 11:34 23 May 2022

As someone else now looking to buy, it irks me to see the word investment associated with buying a house. I even see estate agents now marketing the lower priced properties as 'ideal investment property'.

A house should be a home, not an investment for someone to take advantage of someone else's lack of income to purchase their own house. I believe this ideology of property investment is why this countries housing market is f***ed. I wonder how many property investors now regret helping to price their own grandchildren out of the housing market due to their own short term greed...

I am not against renting per se, there are definitely reasonable landlords out there who provide for students or those who actually want temp housing (although in alot of cases they only want it because they cant afford to buy!)

Not sayign they are civilised pal. But if you truly believe 75 million are completely uncivilised and lost to all reason as human beings then that's a shame IMO.

The only way division stops is when you look at the common interests and try to reason. You cannot seriously deny the media and the dems have never stopped attacking DT as president from day 1, there were even protests after the 2017 inauguration. He brings much of it on himself so he rightly has his critics. But i think the 'he isn't our president' mantra from celebs, some mainstream news and other significant figures hasn't helped in terms of backing up DT's claims of being hatred by the media, the system being against him and his followers.

I supposed some rw extremists could be too far gone for redemption...

You say not all arguments are equal, but I'm talking about arguing about anything which isn't oppressive, i.e. the brexit debate. Anything like BLM falls under human decency not the realm of politics, shame some issues are wrongly labelled as politics.

In theory no two arguments can be compared, as it is often related to personal experiences. But what I'm getting at is civilised people need to be able to disagree without getting into hyper-emotional state, getting into the mindset of hatred or us v them and generalising. I do think feel like the media and celebrities have a bigger influence than they realise on people resorting to a herd mentality. I do believe that aside from the D himself, there has been a degree of help from the actions of the democrats in general in instilling resolve in the hard rights views that DT was/is the guy to MAGA in terms of shaking up the whole media is against us thinking

That's pretty much what I was getting at re violence, although its debatable what level of violence is deemed proportionate, there have been some 'ugly scenes'. I just hope that this is a debate which ceases as we hopefully become more civilised...I'm sure a few people have said that in centuries past!

Definitely aiming at Trump but also generally divisiveness amongst the people?

There is more to US issues than just DT. Media spin has certainly not helped douse the tensions for either side of the politics at times, besides the usual loons.

I just think the media and Americans in general need to accept there's two sides to any 'argument' or debate, and violence is wrong. Albeit in some cases its acceptably inevitable, we should all strive to be better at disagreeing, educating and growing as people. Too much hatred, school ground bullying (particularly stereotyping of political leanings based on a single view) and aggression and little well thought debate on social media, particularly twitter (here on the Brexit debate as well).

Now, if we had a man like George Burley in charge I could see a way out of this.
at 22:38 7 Aug 2020

Agreed, if Lambert continues to show little signs of putting together a cohesive team and system then what else do we really have to lose? I see little if any negative of bringing a club legend in for at least a remaining portion of next season to at least steady the ship.

Whats football without the fans? Disregarding Covid, his appointment would bring back the vast majority of fans instantly. He could command instant respect of the squad due to what he has achieved here!

I for one find it hard to believe that Evans has not considered this move in the past, and i cannot understand why he hasnt already approached him! Since Mick, even through the slight 'feel good' period under Lambert around the club (off the pitch mainly) during the relegation season, i feel like there has been a divide amongst fans about how the club is run and if Evans made the right choice post MM. This would be a great pr move for ME, how has he not seen this?

Klopp - Magic of the cup!

Shame, he seemed like a fairly likeable bloke and im not exactly a big fan of Liverpool. Reeks of unprofessionalism and throwing toys out of the pram, whilst also being incredibly disrespectful to the greatest cup competition...and some Liverpool fans accuse other top teams of being 'plastic' clubs

So, the NHS is up for sale
at 11:26 27 Nov 2019

A lot of flouncing on here about headlines this morning...

If you haven't read the documents, how can you know this was more than merely the US trying to play that card with the government resisting.

Tories have done some silly things, but this would be political suicide for the next election after this one. I don't think they are that stupid

The management and structure of the NHS needs serious review and change regardless of who is in power, its not just a fix to throw money at it.
The Labour government under Blair/Brown privatised parts of the NHS don't forget...
