Ipswich Town 4-1 Accrington Stanley - Match Report
at 17:23:30

It feels GREAT to be celebrating a win, and a comprehensive one at that! Well done lads - let's use this to embrace a positive mindset, and start off a momentum-thrust forwards.
Now to enjoy Saturday evening, with a smile on my face, and a sense of a job well done!!

Even the most optimistic fan (note: I am not saying 'delusional-fan', they're irrelevant, because their opinions are based on blind faith, not evidence, or facts...) has to admit that over the past decade Town have limped from one supposed 'low point' to another.
I now have a feeling about Town I've literally NEVER had before in my whole life - hopelessness...
I've followed Town through thick and thin, and I'll always want the best for them, and will always give my support, BUT, at the moment, I don't have any hope whatsoever that we're going to turn things around.
The whole set-up is chaotic, lacking structure, stability and purpose; this is powerfully symbolised by the five-year contract offered to Lambert in the midst of such an appalling run.
Nobody has an idea how to turn it around, including me, and so we'll just float along, assailed by the waves of chance until we're eventually and inevitably ship-wrecked. The only question is how long this will take, and will anything be salvageable so we can try again.
Phew. I needed to get that off my chest, and as a teacher, I am not looking forward to returning to school on Monday, knowing how much abuse I am going to suffer at the hands of my pupils. Worst of all, I have no response to their criticism...

Looking at that form-table, MidasTouch, leaves me incredulous as to why we'd sign PL on a five-year contract at the moment!! Am I missing something??? He still had 18 months left on his current deal - why didn't we wait to see if he's able to turn things around.

Wooly74 - thanks for posting. You've helped us all to refocus our perspective on the real issues here.
It's impossible to even consider slagging off our club, or wishing we supported someone else (although the latter has often crossed my mind over the past decade...), and instead, we just have to strap ourselves in for the ride, even though we suspect it's going to be horrible.
It's REALLY hard being a Town fan isn't it?
I am afraid I have no optimism AT ALL about today's match, or indeed about ANY match we're involved in at the moment.
Nonetheless, I wish Paul and the team well, and give a special shout-out to the amazing Town fans who're willing to spend their hard-earned cash on such an unpredictable team.
Happy New Year everyone, and COYB FOREVER...

Lincoln City 5-3 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 18:07:20

Goodness. We've really hit very worrying times, haven't we?

Having said which, I sense things are only going to get worse. A lot worse.

Evans wants to see, but nobody wants to buy (can you blame them??); Lambert is devoid of ideas, and is becoming fractious with fans and journalists. He's bound to leave before the end of the season.

I wish there was an obvious way-out, but I fear we're in freefall, with nothing to break our eventual splat, and little/no hope of any meaningful, long-term rebuilding.

Strap yourselves in folks - it's going to be dire - VERY dire indeed...

RIP Town. I'll love you till my last breath, or yours, whichever comes first.

It's getting really hard to care now.

Happy Christmas everyone - let's focus on the stuff that really matters, instead of the unpredictability that is Town.

See you on the other side...

Lambert: It Would Be Great to Go Through and Draw One of the Big Guns
at 10:37:19

Look. I am NOT trying to be negative/cynical, but I am struggling with this one...
Do I always want Town to win? Of course I do!
Would it therefore be good to get into the third round? Yes, I suppose so...
Are you therefore rooting for Town today? Um, yes, but, um...

The thing is, if we're honest, we all know Town just aren't really good at the moment. Even in League One, we're struggling to look impressive. Therefore, I find myself thinking, "What's the point of winning cup-games, that'll distract from our already-difficult league battles?"
Therefore, all things said, I think we should just quietly bow out of the cup, and concentrate on the league. After what we've seen so far this season, it's not a foregone conclusion we'll be going up. Even worse than this is the other truth that if we do somehow get promoted, what kind of season would we have in the Championship with this squad, and this manager?

Okay. Now I've written it, I'll hunker down for the potential claims that I am negative, or don't support the team.

I can assure you I do, and have done so for a VERY long time. It's just all so very disappointing and painful at the moment, and I wondered whether airing my concerns would be cathartic.

Let's see, eh?

If Town are going to field even a half-decent team, I'd be more than happy to attend this. If it's second or third string, however, I feel they ought to tell us in advance, to inform our decisions.
The match at London Road was AWESOME, earlier in the season, so come on Town, tell us the truth - how seriously are you taking this match? We're willing to give our time and money, so we deserve to be told...
Ten Changes as Blues Look to End FA Cup Woe
at 15:30:48

So, when they said, "First-team coach Matt Gill says there will be a few changes when the Blues take on Lincoln City in the first round of the FA Cup at Portman Road on Saturday but insists it will still be a strong side which takes on the Imps", 'few' meant 10!!!

Why not just say, 'We simply don't care about the cup, and since it'll be a demonstrably second-string team, we'll charge £10.00 for all tickets'?

Bit sad about this, to be honest...

Wow. Just WOW!!! Will the joy never cease???

After a decade of pain, I am loving every last moment of this uber-positive League One experience.

Here's to PL and the team - thanks for bringing back my pleasure at being a Town fan. Even my students at work are impressed!!!

Peterborough United 2-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 21:41:55

Okay. So, I am a bit drunk now, but it was a very entertaining match.

Kenlock was beyond AWFUL, and we really lacked a cutting edge up front.

When we tried to play football, however, we looked better.

The fans were uttely AMAZING!! The most impressive away-showing I've EVER seen. VERY loud and passionate, and to be fair, deserving of a far better performance from our team.

I was thrilled to see Norwood bag his first, no doubt of MANY for Town, then sad to see him miss the pen. It happens...

Overall, a pretty poor showing from us, but still a crucial away point, which we may be very grateful of, come the end of the season...

Did I mention how bad Kenlock was??? Can a player be LESS then one-dimensional????

Anyway, ITID, and hopefully we'll travel onwards and upwards from here, so that our League One/Two team, can match our PREMIERSHIP fans...

Evans on Relegation, New Arrivals and the Promotion Challenge
at 09:56:38

Found myself smiling along to your post Northstandveteran (not for the first time...), and I agree with everything you said.

I guess that's the nature of having a senior role at Ipswich isn't it? We're not exactly the most demanding set of fans, and are happy to tolerate ineptitude and non-engagement long beyond what most clubs would find acceptable.

Let's face it - whether we like it or not, we're stuck with ME until he decides otherwise. In the meantime, we'll 'feast' on very slim pickings, whilst slowly, but inevitably, watching our club slide into utter obscurity.

I've loved ITFC my whole life, and I'll do so till I die, but I can't pretend I am happy with these miserable times.

Thanks, however, Northstandveteran, for raising a smile amidst the ashes. #topbloke
Lambert Expresses Transfer Frustrations: It's the Way the Club's Run
at 16:20:23

This is just SO depressing, on the eve of a new season.

None of us can be truly sure of what's happening behind the scenes, but whatever it is, after listening to PL here, it really can't be good.

How many times over the past decade have we thought, "Well, at least things can't get any worse..." Then they get worse.

I am doing my best to take a deep breath, and hope for the best, but all the evidence points to yet another very painful season as a Town fan.
