Ten Changes as Blues Look to End FA Cup Woe
So, when they said, "First-team coach Matt Gill says there will be a few changes when the Blues take on Lincoln City in the first round of the FA Cup at Portman Road on Saturday but insists it will still be a strong side which takes on the Imps", 'few' meant 10!!!
Why not just say, 'We simply don't care about the cup, and since it'll be a demonstrably second-string team, we'll charge £10.00 for all tickets'?
Bit sad about this, to be honest...
Fleetwood Town 0-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
I am starting to get a nosebleed, being this high up for so long!!
That's a very impressive result today, and it's exciting to see us building up a real sense of momentum.
Happy days are here again...
Ipswich Town 4-1 Tranmere Rovers - Match Report
Wow. Just WOW!!! Will the joy never cease???
After a decade of pain, I am loving every last moment of this uber-positive League One experience.
Here's to PL and the team - thanks for bringing back my pleasure at being a Town fan. Even my students at work are impressed!!!
Ipswich Town 3-0 Shrewsbury Town - Match Report
We've waited over a decade for the feel-good-factor, and now it's here, I am going to enjoy it.
Even my pupils at school have stopped abusing us - special times indeed...
Peterborough United 2-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report
Okay. So, I am a bit drunk now, but it was a very entertaining match.
Kenlock was beyond AWFUL, and we really lacked a cutting edge up front.
When we tried to play football, however, we looked better.
The fans were uttely AMAZING!! The most impressive away-showing I've EVER seen. VERY loud and passionate, and to be fair, deserving of a far better performance from our team.
I was thrilled to see Norwood bag his first, no doubt of MANY for Town, then sad to see him miss the pen. It happens...
Overall, a pretty poor showing from us, but still a crucial away point, which we may be very grateful of, come the end of the season...
Did I mention how bad Kenlock was??? Can a player be LESS then one-dimensional????
Anyway, ITID, and hopefully we'll travel onwards and upwards from here, so that our League One/Two team, can match our PREMIERSHIP fans...
Evans on Relegation, New Arrivals and the Promotion Challenge
Found myself smiling along to your post Northstandveteran (not for the first time...), and I agree with everything you said.
I guess that's the nature of having a senior role at Ipswich isn't it? We're not exactly the most demanding set of fans, and are happy to tolerate ineptitude and non-engagement long beyond what most clubs would find acceptable.
Let's face it - whether we like it or not, we're stuck with ME until he decides otherwise. In the meantime, we'll 'feast' on very slim pickings, whilst slowly, but inevitably, watching our club slide into utter obscurity.
I've loved ITFC my whole life, and I'll do so till I die, but I can't pretend I am happy with these miserable times.
Thanks, however, Northstandveteran, for raising a smile amidst the ashes. #topbloke
Lambert Expresses Transfer Frustrations: It's the Way the Club's Run
This is just SO depressing, on the eve of a new season.
None of us can be truly sure of what's happening behind the scenes, but whatever it is, after listening to PL here, it really can't be good.
How many times over the past decade have we thought, "Well, at least things can't get any worse..." Then they get worse.
I am doing my best to take a deep breath, and hope for the best, but all the evidence points to yet another very painful season as a Town fan.
Colchester United 0-5 Ipswich Town - Match Report
Just enjoying the positive result! It's gotta be good for team morale/belief. Come on boys, keep it coming. We've gotta get out of the starting-gate quickly this year... COYB!!!
Town Confirm Norwood Signing
I've got to admit - I am VERY pleased indeed with this signing - our best for ages IMHO. Get in there!!
I bet I am not the only one already raring to go with the new season...
Town Confirm Holy Signing
Noice!! I feel VERY positive about this. My Gill-fan-friend is utterly gutted!!
Town Release New Kits
Even as an old git, I feel like buying this home kit!
I have to agree, however, with those who object to the sponsor. It grates to be associated with such an unethical company, in the context of all the other positive community-stuff we're involved in.
Without their jarring-logo, I'd purchase this in a heart-beat, and given the many other dissenting voices, it sounds like I am not the only one. Surely, if an association is inhibiting sales, it's unwise for the club to continue with it?
This year, it's been down-graded, hopefully next year it'll be discontinued.
Bottom line? It's a sharp, professional kit, marred by a hideous sponsor. Remove Vegas, and it'd be PERFECTION...
Preston North End 4-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
An awful season just continues to get worse.
We're so far out of our depth, we can't see the shore, and it's hard to be optimistic, let alone certain, that League One will be any better.
Years of under-investment, mis-management, and non-engagement from our 'owner' (sic), are now coming home to roost, and the only question now is: how low will we plummet before we start to ascend again?
I for one, strongly believe we'll NEVER make any progress with Evans at the helm, and I call upon the last decade as evidence.
These are dark, dismal, and all-but-hopeless days, for Town fans, and whether we 'deserve' better or not, I fear the worst is yet to come...
My only consolation, is that the season, and all we've had to endure, will shortly be over.
I remain I.T.I.D. and yet, at this rate, the club might actually die before I do...
Owner Evans Apologises to Fans
Phew! That was a close one…
There I was, thinking things were as bad as they could possibly be, with my beloved football club. Then Marcus stepped in to assure me everything is, in fact, fine.
Whilst all around turns to ashes, isn’t it consoling to know that our absentee owner really cares, and is sorry for destroying everything we held dear.
Thanks again, Marcus, for reassuring us today. I don’t know where we’d be without you, although I am guessing it wouldn’t be staring down the barrel of The Worst Moment in our Club’s History.
I look forward to the next illustrious decade with you at the helm. There are certain to be many surprises ahead, but with you in charge, we can all rest assured that a True Blue, with the best intentions for the club, is steering our course.
With all my gratitude,
One of the turkeys who continually votes for Christmas.
Ipswich Town 1-1 Birmingham City - Match Report
So, the day is finally here, and we're now officially and a League One club. For the first time in my life.
This slow, death-by-a-thousand-cuts, has been a very long time coming. In fact, it's hard to remember the last time I felt happy, or optimistic, as a Town fan.
I also fear, that if we walk blindly, and blithely, towards our relegation, and subsequent tenure in League One, that we'll be deserving all we get...
It's time to stop, and take time to reflect, rationally and without rancour, on what got us here. This is not a time for knee-jerk reactions, which will immediately be swept away by unfolding hardships.
Our demise hasn't happened overnight, or even over a season. We've been 'spilling blood' for a decade, and unless we address the real reasons for this, then I fear our relegation is only the beginning of our woes.
I love Ipswich Town Football Club with all my heart, always have and always will, and this day hurts. A lot.
I can't simply say, 'we'll be okay', or spout some optimistic drivel about 'good times ahead'. This is a fully-fledged crisis, and unless we accept this, and take dramatic, and drastic, action, then this 'coma' will lead to the death of our illustrious club.
My heart is breaking today, as it is for all of us with blue-blood. I hope we can find common cause, and in good time, name, shame, and eradicate the reasons, and not the symptoms, for our current calamity.
I am glad to have this forum, to voice my pain, and share it with a community joined together by our love of the Town.
Today is a day for sorrow.
Then it is time for reflection.
Then, and only then, should we point the finger, name our cause, unite around it, take the necessary action, and start to rebuild our club, from the bottom up, to start all over again...
McCarthy Played a Part in Judge's Decision to Stay at Town
Good one from MM. Whatever happened in the past, whatever our thoughts and opinions, I think that on reflection, Mick did remarkable work at Town. Did it all turn toxic? Yes, it did, but looking back on his tenure as a whole, I think history will be kind on him...
Ipswich Town 0-2 Hull City - Match Report
The sad truth, is this is what I've come to expect. Under Hurst = very little hope, terrible performances, feeling disillusioned. Under Lambert = very little hope, bad performances/with flashes of urgency, feeling vaguely happier.
It's kind of like improvement, without anyting of substance actually changing.
The 1st Division will at least see us win some games (I hope!!), but these are dismal times for Town...
