Town 1-1 Brentford - Match Report
at 19:15:39

the idea that mick has had no support from the owner and has somehow weaved some magic is the biggest load of rubbish ever.big transfers are and will continue to die out at this level mick has been allowed to bring in player after player of his choosing and decent ones at that,he chooses to play the long ball game and i have said for a long time that fans will only accept that style if it gets us up.at the moment it is failing as it is outdated awful to watch and teams set up to counter it.we are not building anything here mick was a shortterm fix but will never build us into a swansea or southhampton.football has changed but mick is stuck in the past and he has a poor record in the top flight because kick and rush has nor worked for him.football is about goals but he would be happy with 0-0 every game.borinf-negative old fashioned football and i would rather finish 16th and say we had a go and played good football than finish 9th and play hoofball

Loan Trio Won't Play for Town Again
at 20:10:02

warktheline i very much think it was reported at the time on here that mick had offered him something which he turned down.
martin was not as talented as some but his workrate was beyond question which is why mick played him so much and offered him a deal-my facts are straight ol chap have a word with yourself

warktheline it would be no good asking lee martin what happens if your work rate is not good enough under mick would it? for a start his workrate was superb and secondly he was offered a new contract by mick himself and mick played him regularly

Derogatory Comments Make It All the Sweeter
at 11:32:23

mcarthys style of football will only really be ok if he takes us up with it if he dosent then we may as well of tried playing a more expansive passing game-I am a self confessed football snob and like the game to be played on the floor passing and moving that dosent mean you cant work hard tackle hard but fair but I do hate all the long balls as well.
Mcarthys style has served him well at championship level but his record in the premier league is poor and top sides will murder us playing the way we do-I personally admire swansea and the model they have followed which has allowed a club similar in size to us have managed to sustain themslves in the prem playing good footie. I love to see the town win but actually think we could play better footie with the players we have but it seems the majority are happy with this -were ipswich no-one likes us and we dont care image -like I say it will be fine if it gets us up as then the sacrifice in quality will have been a price worth paying but if we dont questions should be asked.and before I predictably get slaughtered by the MM lovers can any of them actually claim he has a good record as a premier league manager?
Anyway 3 point today up the town!

McCarthy: Fortunate to Get a Point
at 12:29:57

poor display of long ball football with nothing more expansive thrown in. I ahve always been critical of MM as I dont like his style of play and whole football philosophy. I actually though he had become a bit more adventurous of late but he seems to have reverted to type and cannot seem to grasp that when protecting a lead we should try and play in there half rather than dropping deep to defend the game out and inviting the other team on to us. We put ourselves under pressure and given that whatever anybody says about transfer fees mick has been allowed to bring some good players of his choosing in who will be on decent money I would expect better. He was also allowed to keep 2 players who we could have sold for over 10 million so we should show a little more ambition as we should beat huddersfield at home

When The Keane Machine Broke Down
at 16:58:11

not really sure about the whole ireland thing I personally felt keane had a point. Ive read his first autobiography and Niall quinns as well and it does seem that the Irish fa are a bit of a joke who kept extremely low standards and seemed to be acceping of failure and low standards and I have some sympathy for Keane over his time in suffolk-why shouldent players work hard and demand more from themselves-why shouldent they show a bit more ambition and desire-maybe keane did not get it out of them well enough but they were all grown men who were good players and should have had more professional pride.
I seem to remember keane trying to get all players to live within a certain distance of the training ground which is a good idea in principle.
I have also read sir alex f book and he says in there that towards the end of his time at united keane had become fed up of the attitude of players coming through and the way fergie would induldge them and I think it is just a sign of the times but again I would share keanes view-some of the players coming through do think they have made it they dont have the fight and desire that was a trademark of keane himself who was discovered relativly late by forest playing for a poor irish side-he wasent capped at youth level and battled his way to the pinnicle of the game-In his book he said that in his first season as a pro at forest he made a backpass short that cost his team the game and when he walked in the changing room Clough laid him out! going from that to working with players like counago must be frustrating. I loved pablo when he was here but he is one of those players who could have played at the very top but never really made it happen for himself.
Keane didant manage well here dont get me wrong but lets admit that that the players did not do there job properly and not just continually run down a bloke who has achieved an awful lot in the game, coming from a working class family in ireland with the odds staked against him.

McCarthy: We'll Keep On Scrapping Away
at 17:42:23

anybody who speaks out against gerkin on here seems to be getting slaugtered but it is wrong to judge his form over just the last few games where he had had a decent run tom be fair-overall though over the last 2 seasons he has not been a good enough keeper for a side with aspiration of getting promoted-during the summer even mcathys supporters were saying it was the place we needed to strengthen so in the few games we have had this good run dont change the fact that we is dodgy on crosses knowing when to come and when to stay and his kicking can be poor.Im sure he is doing his best and he makes some eye catching saves but I think many other teams in the league have a better keeper.
The idea from some that taylor going has been a catalyst is a nonsense-he was with the u 21s most of the time its more likely that keeping mcgoldrick , the arrival of williams and a bit of luck at last have been more important.
its great to have a spell with such good results and I have said before that if we are going to play in this mcarthy style(which im not a fan of personally) then I expect that he should get us promoted-he has been allowed to build his own squad been allowed to keep 10 millions quid worth of talent and bring in collison willaims ambrose sammon etc so its got to be top 6 now or the project has not worked

McCarthy Delighted With Tabb
at 17:13:48

its just like playing 2 left back one in front of the other because MM is so scared of the opponent and thinks long balls forward and set plays are our best hope of a goal.
if hes not going to beat a player and get balls into the box then get him off the left wing. boring tabb boring mick they were made for each other

McCarthy: Good Win Against Good Team
at 07:07:30

dont quite know whats wrong with whosroundisitanyway telling people to not bother commeting and go and support millwall.
I hate mcarthy and his long ball negative style but i dont tell his supporters to go and support somebody else or stop commenting.
it is possible to win 2-0 and still have been able to do some things better. there are alot stronger teams in this league and that performance would not have been good enough against some of them.the better team we play the more they will punish us when they have the ball and we give possesion of the ball away too cheaply.its a good home 3 points but we need not get carried away as we should expect to beat millwall at home

No Town Move For Graham
at 18:02:07

the problem is lonelyblue that even if wee think there may be a plan regarding transfer policy mcarthys main plan on the pitch is to pump long balls forward.
he will need to leave before we can really progress as a footballing side.
mcarthy does not particularity value creativity in midfield as he does not plan to play through it he just wants them to scrap and run around when we havent got the ball

Town Face Competition for Graham
at 16:11:00

agree with Surco72 he would be automatic starter above murphy. there is no comparison to sammon he is twice the player of sammon murphy and banjer.

He is excellent at championship level-maybe he wont score 20 in the prem but cannot understand the negativity by some on here. the bottom line is mcarthy has messed up signing banjer and sammon they are both not good enough.i would have any 2 from mcgoldrick graham marriot and murphy and in that order

Quartet Linked With Williams
at 16:39:06

jas0999 is right danny graham is better than what we already have.
he is a good goalscorer at championship level and cant understand anybody saying no thanks-to my mind he is better than murphy as well.
having said all that i would prioritse williams as we need him more and I really want Jack marriot to be given a shot up top. I still cant get over mcarthy preferring an unfit bajner who could not even last a half to a fit jack marriot at fulham. But then i suppose marriot is not a great big lump

Nouble Nets Winner on Coventry Debut
at 12:44:11

Fat_Boy_Tim the diffrence is that people feel that marriot and taylor have not been given a proper chance whereas with nouble he has been given plenty of chances and not done it for us. he may mature and become a good player but there is no way he deserved the chances he got in the first team ahead of marriot or taylor and thats what annoys people.
Hope he goes on to have a good season

McCarthy: Taylor Never Showed Enough at Town
at 19:51:41

Kirbmeister Jet had a hell of a season last year and ive seen the plenty of L1 footie and there are good players and teams at that level.
His place has been taken by wilbraham playing up with baldock but either of those players would walk into our team.
I would have kept JET and there is no way in a month of sundays anderson is a better player

so does jay tabb or gerkin or skuse show this great form micks looking for.
taylor cant stay as mick does not like him and does not fit into a defensive 442 long ball game.
It is dreadful under mick dire dire football kick and rush-I hate it and now we are getting rid of footballs and keeping big lumps and scrappers.
I think he lost it totally in the season opener when instead of playing marriot he played an unfit banjer who could not even last a half and has now brought in Sammon with his dismal scoring record and shipped jack out.
Taylor should have stayed and we should have binned the old dinosaur who is ripe for retirement

How Would We All Like the Club to Move Forward?
at 18:35:00

not a bad blog

For me personally the current style of play is a huge problem and one I dont
think will be improved under MM.

I think we should be a team that plays out from the back with a passing attacking style-not totally gung ho but like swansea for example.
We should implement that style through all age groups and start intergrating and giving a chance to our more talented yougsters alongside some senior pros so we have a blend of youth and experience.
I actually saw Bonne's first senior goal on his 18th birthday and agree he could be a real player but Joe Dunne wont start him at the mo and he does not defend from the front enough for mcarthy. If i were to take a player from the Us it would be sanchez Watt. I went to Col U peterborough yesterday and peterborough were very impressive played good football with 3 CB and wing backs played out from the back-they have just signed an exiting young forward from gateshead who looked good and they have been bold in paying 600,000 of the asombalonga money on him. I would love us to find a few more gems. People are quick to have a go about darren ferguson but his side that won succesive promotions with Boyd Mackail smith and Mclean played great stuff and they were all non league finds.

The perfect Example for us to follow has to be swansea to my mind but that is not going to happen as it will be long ball old fasioned stuff all the way while MM is here
