Was at the match and what a great result! First half was very poor for both teams with lots of displaced passes and both teams cancelling themselves out. That was until Bonne who gave 100% all night popped up out of nowhere to pinch a goal following their goalkeeper’s blunder.

Second half performance from Town was amazing with everyone stepping up and playing well. The team clearly grew in confidence with the goal in the first half and Cook’s team talk. Stand out players were Aluko, Chaplin, Edmondson and Donacien. Tough one to call however I think my MOM goes to Janoi

We are not suddenly world beaters and Pompey were poor. It would be great if people on this site could stay a bit more balanced as the amount of negatively following Saturday’s match was a joke. The team are developing well. Keep the faith!

Well played KVY who had a great second half until he tired. Solid defence on the whole. Downs and Dozzell need to get forward more and in my view play too similar a role. Dobra should play ahead of the once again very poor Bennetts. Surely worth playing Hawkins with Jackson to see if that works next match as none of the combinations Cook has tried so far has!

Solid at back again however really poor going forward. Total lack of creativity and very little goal threat. Time to drop Dozzell, Ward, Jackson , Edwards, one of the three centre backs. We look poor playing three centre backs as we don’t have natural wing backs. Still in the mix of the play offs however need to improve by 100%.

Dream start due to constant pressing and more people in and around their box. It looked like we would at last have a comfortable game in which we as fans could relax a bit! Sadly not the case following a Dozzell howler led them back in.

I thought with the new formation we created more goal scoring opportunities however so often the ball into the box was poor or did not beat their first man and ended up being a corner. Our corners were not great today. As a consequence of being more attack focused we did look shakier at the back.

Desperately hope that Bishop and Norwood are fit for Monday. I think that Kenwood offers more than Ward and is unlucky not to be in the team. Would also play Parrott up front with Nors as Jackson offered little.

What a poor performance. Second to every ball / tackle, virtually no shots on goal until the last minute, could hardly put three passes together. Nobody had a good game. Totally outplayed. Utter garbage. What more can I say!!!

Deserved win and we should have scored more. First 20 minutes we were on fire and should have put the game to bed. MY MOM was Kenlock. Defended well and saved the centre backs a few times when they did not pick up the forwards. Also got forward well although final ball was sometimes disappointing. Hope Downes injury is not too bad as he had his best game in ages before going off and for once in midfield we looked dominant with Dozzell also playing well.

We struggled to cope with Gillingham’s long ball tactics and constant hustle and bustle. We definitely missed Judge. Having got back into the game with Chambers well taken header it was really disappointing that Sears gifted them the ball and they broke and scored. Their third goal was clinical and well taken. Bennetts put in a really disappointing performance and I would start with Edwards next match. Our midfield made little impact. Gills played well and Town were poor. Struggling to pick a MOM, Probably would give it to Chambers. Role on the next game!

Ground out a great win against the 10 men of Accrington who pushed hard in the second half. Nsiala and Wilson once again really solid at the back with no frills defending. Was also impressed with Judge and Norwood who created lots of chances and Norwood took his goal well having missed a couple of much easier chances. However my MOM goes to Parrott who was everywhere, and won the penalty and would have scored if their captain had not clinically fouled him.

That has to be the worst quality match I have ever watched. Town played with no cohesion or self belief and Northampton during the first half in particular gave us no time in the ball and were first to everything. You would think that at half time Lambert would have made wholesale changes however the same team and formation were continued for the second half. Mad no sense and the same dross was served up. Only when Judge, Bishop and then Norwood came on did we see some half decent play and a few chances created. Parrot had a shocker and our full backs who looked so good two games ago were all over the place with poor passing and created very little. I am totally fed up watching the rubbish quality of football being served up week in week out in a league we should be bossing. I am convinced we have the quality of players however the tactics and way the team are set up each game is poor and until we get a new manager with fresh ideas I can only see a mid table finish.

What an poor game with defences on top and Town resorting to a lot of long balls. A much needed win and with so many Town players coming back from injury it was probably not too surprising that scoring chances were at a premium! I still don’t like the 433 formation that Lambert insists on playing. Toto and McGuinness both put in really strong dominant displays and Holy’s kicking and distribution is in my view better than Cornell. Chambers first half last ditch block definitely saved a goal. My MOM has to go to McGuiness. Great to see him score and he defended really solidly. We will need to play much better though to get anything out of our next two games.

A rusty performance and really frustrating that from getting back in the game at 1-1 we did not go on and win it. Their second goal was top quality however someone should have closed him down. Cornell should have kept the third one out. Best game Judge has had in ages and Norwood looked really threatening. Great to see Flynn back. Jackson no good out wide.

Sadly outplayed by Pompey. I still feel we have the players we are just set up with the wrong formation and why does Lambert insist on always starting with 4-3-3, It does not fit the current squad of fit players. Jackson needs a striker up front to play off. I thought our defence looked very shaky today and did not play well. Cornell was probably MOM with Dozzell and Jackson not far behind.

Once again lacking in the final third and all because our manager persists with 433 formation. It just does not work with the players currently available. We looked so much more threatening when we had two up front. Yes we are suffering with injuries and looks like Toto and Norwood are the latest two to join the long list. For me Bennetts was MOM however his final ball was too often not quite what is needed. Good to see Drinan back and he looked threatening as did Norwood before he was injured. I am afraid I have to agree with the majority....time for a change in the top seat before the season totally falls away.

Ipswich Town v Hull City Your Report added at 08:07:41
Another really poor performance. Both teams played 4-3-3 formation and Hull showed how a team should play with that formation. Their front three looked threatening. We looked powder puff aside from Norwood however whenever he had the ball he seemed to lack much support and so often got crowded out. Where was Judge as the attacking midfielder who should have been supporting Norwood?? We created very little and it is so frustrating that Lambert refuses to change the formation when it is not working. Our full backs do not create enough and the quality of ball into the box is often not good enough. McGavin looks really promising and clearly has a lot of ability however please stop giving him corners and free kick as most of the time they are rubbish. Bennetts gets my MOM with Norwood second. Really frustrated at how the season is panning out. Lambert sort it out and fast!!

Mightily relieved to get the win in the last minute however we played really poorly. Clearly the two week break did nothing to help the fluidity of the team. Really odd team selection again with Wolfenden and Lancaster on the bench instead of Judge and Nsiala. We really missed Edwards and also someone up front who can win the ball!

McGavin had a great first half and an iffy second half. He took most of the corners and free kicks and most were poor. Bishop looked good again with some great forward runs and I hope to god that his injury is minor. Thought Norwood and Bennetts looked threatening and if both fully fit should start on Tuesday. Really hard to decide on my man of the match and would say that due to the impact he had Bennetts gets it just from McGavin. We will need to be 100% better to win on Tuesday.

With nine changes it was always very unlikely that we were going to play coherently and the first half performance was diabolical. The midfield were not existent for most of the half. I don’t mind us playing from the back however Toto and McGuinness were the only ones willing to try and make a pass. Our full backs lacked the confidence to try anything with the ball and our midfield would receive the ball however always pass backwards. As a consequence our forward three were starved of the ball with only Bennett’s showing any real ability to do anything however would always get crowded out. Our goal was really well taken by Nolan however came out of the blue.

Second half performance was 100% better however why did they not play like that in the first half. I think the players have to take some of the blame however also Lambert for the number of changes made to the team. The midfield started making forward passes and as we became more of a threat Pompey were not able to apply as much pressure which allowed our defence to have a bit more time on the ball and deliver better passes. McGuinness in particular was very good with his distribution and winning of the ball. Bringing Norwood on made a big difference and he took his goal really well and looked a real threat. He definitely offered more that Hawkins who is good in the air and holds the ball up well and distributes it but does not run at defenders or seem to have that killer instinct in the box.

And now to the refereeing. Once again absolutely rubbish. Failed to send off one of their players for a two footed lunge, gave Pompey a clear offside goal, and failed to give us a penalty when Hawkins got bundled over in the box. We should have pushed harder for a third goal after going level however seemed to run out of ideas. In extra time Pompey found a new gear and we were flat for some strange reason - maybe because three quarters of the team who do not play regularly had run out of steam. McGavin was much better in the second half and Edward’s was a constant threat when he cam on. Lancaster did not get into the game at all which was a shame. Norwood was my MOM.

I cannot believe the standard of the referees at this level. From letting the game flow and not doing a bad job he then lost the plot. Dozzell’s tackle was at best a yellow, and McGuinness’s handball was certainly not deliberate or obvious from the distant view that the TV pictures showed. We were well on top until the red card and had a strong last 20 mins of the first half. We at least deserved a draw and probably a win. Strange that Lambert chose not to start with Hawkins who would have been confident following his goal against Crewe. Our defence again looked really solid. Bishop and Edwards created the flair and constantly looked dangerous, and Lancaster had a really strong game and scored a cracking goal and possibly should have been given a penalty. Also missed a great opportunity to score a second. Jackson rarely used his pace and broke at pace against their dodgy back line and did not hold the ball up as well as Hawkins does. Still not sure about Judge and what he offers to the team. Bishop gets my man of the match. His running with the ball and beating players at ease was phenomenal. Despite losing I feel more confident than after recent games that we have won!

Well done Town on a very gritty win. Crewe were way better than us in the first half and Holy kept us in the game with some good saves - one in particular being exceptional. However second half was fairly even as we got better with Bishop making some great driving runs. Hawkins hold up play second half was much better and he took his headed goal really well. However why did Lambert them take him off and bring on Jackson? We were very much holding on for the last 15 minutes. Another strange substitution to take off Bishop who was playing well. Thought Wolfenden had a really strong game and McGuinness was very assured and steady. Three points and top of the league so time to celebrate!!

Listened to the game last night and just watched it this morning. Thought we played well and the new centre back pairing worked well and generally looked solid. It seems to me that with a home game we are more adventurous and the full backs and Dozzell push up the park more whereas when we are away from home we are too defensively minded. Hopefully that will change as I honestly believe we have the quality of squad to win most games and get out of this division this year. Bishop was outstanding today and definitely my MOM. As soon as the quality of the crossing into the box and from corners improves then we will definitely win games much more comfortably. We get into some great positions.
