Defensively we were poor, and would welcome seeing how Cam and Fridge perform together. Am worried about how many injuries we will have picked up from a bruising match. |

Once again disappointing first half and an excellent second half. Of the starting 11 in my view only Moore, Edmundson and Broadhead played really well, however the game changer again was a Hutchinson who gets my MOM and should be considered for a start against Millwall. The defence continues to worry me. Wolfy should have gone in hard when he had a chance on Fellowes and it was a 50/50 ball, and swift was given far too much space when he scored and possibly Vas should have got a hand on it. Could Cam play alongside Edmundson? Maybe also Travis in for Mass, for the next match? |

What a contrast between the first and second half! We lacked intensity and seemed unable to play out from the back with our midfield non existent. Out strikers were tightly marked and we certainly needed the half time break and some McKenna magic! And once again he delivered and what a strong second half. We still offered up chances however Hladky was immense and Wolfy read the game well and snuffed out lots of danger. Fridge again held his own and Clarke and Travis also made vital defensive contributions. The good momentum of the second half was upped even more with the substitutions and then Luongo’s strike and Sarmiento’s follow up and finish gave us a deserved and huge point. Next 10 matches look a lot easier and I am confident we can go on a run and keep us in top two. |

We struggled in my view up to the point that they scored. Not unsurprisingly with the changes in centre mid and up front. It was really disappointing that the crowd were so quiet during that period ( was sat in Sir Bobby Robson upper). However a good end to the half with a great pass from Travis and a cool finish by Kayden.
Kieran’s teamtalk clearly had the desired effect and we bossed the second half with everyone stepping up and contributing. We were very lucky not to concede when Wolfy and Haladky gave away possession, however aside from that, lots of chances created with Leaf and Harry getting on the ball more and making runs. Great finish from Chappers and his second half performance made him my MOM. All the subs contributed and had an impact. The future looks bright and just loving this season. |

What a shame virtually none of our fringe players were able to step up and put in a strong performance. Williams and Hutchinson have both looked brilliant in past matches however were poor. Ladapo and Ball contributed very little. Humphreys had a poor first half however was much better in the second. Wolfy had another strong game and was my MOM. Crazy fixture schedule and why the powers that be think we need 4 matches over Christmas is beyond me. We are still in a great position and looking forward to seeing what business we do in the transfer window that opens next week. |

Deserved to get a draw. Leicester looked very dangerous whenever they were in or around our penalty area however thankfully they seemed happy to stick with a 1-0 lead and decided to retain possession between their back six. Morsy was immense all game and what a relief when that goal went in. Special shout out to Wolfy who I thought passed intelligently and defended well. Sky commentators thought Hladky was at fault for the goal however I think Clarke should not have been sucked inside and stayed closer to their goal scorer. Some easier fixtures coming up and hopefully Saints and Leeds will start slipping up more and drop points. |

We are top of the league!! Tough match against a physical and strong Watford who lacked a killer touch in the box. Burgess was immense with not only his defending but also some of his passing. Hirst had a great game and was very unlucky for his second goal to be chalked off. However captain Morsey was my MOM. Great defending, drove well with the ball through the middles, and great composure to score. Bring on the canaries! |

We were off the pace all game and I am afraid out played by WBA. Hardly anyone played at the standards we have grown to expect. I thought Dane Scarlett’s cameo was the only positive performance of the night. Also thought we looked a bit better in midfield when Masimo came on. Hopefully it will be back to normal Wednesday night when we give Millwall a thrashing. |

Wow we made hard work of that! Disastrous start conceding the early goal. We did not get back in numbers to defend. We then dominated the first half with lots of possession. Struggled down the middle however had some joy down the right with Hutchinson and to a lesser degree the left with Williams. A scruffy equaliser in extra time however very much deserved following several previous attempts on goal.
Second half we controlled nicely with the central midfield stepping up more so we had threats there in addition to the wings. Ladapo had a quiet game however took his chance really well and it shows how clinical he is when through on goal. Great pass from Evans. Then came all the substitutions and then frustratingly we sat back and tried to defend our 2-1 lead instead of going on to try and get the third goal to kill the game off. A frustrating final 15 mins, however our class shone with the penalties.
It was a sub standard Ipswich performance and not many of the squad players staked a strong claim for Inclusion at the weekend. Baggott looked really strong at the back, tackled and headed well, however was slightly let down by his distribution. I would definitely keep him in the squad and not let him out on loan. He looked better than Fridge. Williams grew into the game and I am sure will be a good player. Hutchinson the same and was our main bright spark. My MOM would be Baggott followed by Hutchinson.

Tough game but we persisted with being strong on the ball, played out from the back, and got lots of crosses into the box. Great finish from Chappers to get his goal and an excellent second half display. Burgess was a rock and Hladky’s calmness and skill on the ball and shot stopping again top drawer. Great to see Clarke back whose passing and attacking play does offer us more than JD. Was impressed with Armstrong at QPR who looked very dangerous. Three wins and top of the league. Feared the worse after the first 15 minutes when we looked off the pace and over awed. However we gradually got into the game and looked more threatening in the final third. Great strike from Davis and Broadhead deftly deflected it into the net. Davis had a great effort with an earlier strike that nearly ended up on OG.
Second half we were more relaxed and for 30 minutes we were in charge and played the better football. Great goal from Hirst and how the ref did not give a penalty following Hirst being bundled over following a wonder strike from Chappers, I will never know. Maybe evened up the pen that Sunderland did not get in the first half when Donacian looked like he fouled their player. We seemed to fall apart a bit after the red card (again great play from Davis breaking from defence and out pacing their player).
There was never 13 minutes of extra time and boy that was a stressful time, however we deserved the win. Morsey and Davis were my joint MOM, however Burgess was a rock. Great save from Hladky at the end which made up for his earlier errors.

What a performance! Everyone contributed in some way to an amazing win. Hirst was immense up front and his goal just before half time was top class and I think was the defining moment in game that knocked the stuffing out of Barnsley (team and fans!). Wolfy and Burgess were excellent at the back and managed their attacking threat with composure. Thought Chaplin was off the boil a bit however showed his class and predatory goal scoring instincts to get the third. I CANNOT WAIT FOR SATURDAY and better still will be there with my daughter who has never seen any Town success in her 16 years!😀 |
