| Forum Reply | Anyone on here leave after Fulham scored their third? at 13:19 2 Nov 2023
I didn't but I would have got back to London and home an hour earlier (11.30pm instead of 12.30am) the way the trains fall after midweek night games and avoided the chaos on crowded platforms packed with Fulham and Ipswich fans if I had, so I can understand why some, especially older fans, might leave early... |

| Forum Reply | Not seen anything like this after a game before at 19:05 16 Sep 2023
I was in the home end last season, the section nearest our fans in the away end. It was a horrible bunch by me that almost got the match abandoned by repeatedly throwing coins and lighters at the lino. |

Butcher captained England at centre half in a World Cup semi-final, so I for one am interested in his views on those playing that position for us. I sat next to Sheffield United's scout several seasons back when they were Premier League and he was there to watch Wolf (after already taking McGoldrick). They must have concluded there was then something missing in his game from what they wanted. Butcher puts it as a bit of bite, showing more aggression in his play and imposing himself on forwards more. Others have pointed out he can be too casual and loses concentration at times. We've just brought in Tuanzebe after conceding six in two home games, so it will be interesting to see who eventually makes way if we get him fit. He really was a Rolls Royce defender at his best for Man U, lightning quick and strong enough to keep Mbappe quiet away to PSG in the Champions League... |
| Forum Reply | Anyone have a small amount of sympathy for Sheff Wed at 20:01 30 Apr 2023
The Sheff Wed team deserve to win promotion through the play-offs as clearly the next best side over a 46-game season. But I had the misfortune at Hillsborough for our match of being in the section of the home end that almost got the game abandoned by repeatedly pelting the lino with lighters. They gave him dog's abuse all game. There was one guy directly behind me only a few rows back from the touchline who spent most of the match bellowing that he was a 'bent b**stard' and a 'c**nt'. The home fans, who turned on their team very easily at 0-1 and 0-2, created a very loud, intimidating atmosphere when we let them back into the game. No surprise then when the officials allowed Smith's suspiciously offside looking equaliser to stand. They probably feared a riot if they'd disallowed it. One of many fine margin moments over the course of a season where we're currently set to miss out on the title by a point but I haven't any sympathy for the moronic element of their fanbase - hopefully a minority - that I saw at close quarters that day... |

Have a spare Barnsley ticket in away end if anyone needs one, face value £20. Will be in Barnsley from mid-afternoon Tues, so message me and will hold onto it for the first taker. Thanks, Tim |

You can do Donny return for £30 with advance tickets. I did it last season, easy run an hour and a half out of Kings X |
| Forum Reply | Champions League Final entry issues last night…. at 10:06 30 May 2022
An obvious answer why there weren't the same problems with Real supporters is that there was much higher demand to see the game among Liverpool fans. Slightly off point but I have followed England at almost all the World Cups and Euros and there is always an issue with fake tickets for the big games and it is noticeable how many of the touts are Scousers. No surprise at all then that there would be a lot in circulation for a Champions League final featuring Liverpool. This group bought 19 ! https://www.ladbible.com/sport/liverpool-fans-conned-out-of-19000-after-buying-f Given the Stade de France hosts big football and rugby matches all the time, the late switch from St Petersburg shouldn't have been a big deal. What then was different about this match? From the many eyewitness reports from journalists and videos of events, it looks like an overreaction to the Euros final and possibly Liverpool fans having form by over-aggressive French cops, blocking approaches with police vans to funnel them down tight bottlenecks. Any fake tickets at turnstiles would have compounded delays and chaos, as would use of tear gas and fans (including local French youths) scaling fences, walls and storming gates. Couple of videos here
I'm sure the vast majority of Liverpool fans were patient and did absolutely nothing wrong and it is a total disgrace that they were left to queue for hours and tear gassed at football's showpiece final because of shambolic organisation. But it's not a coincidence that trouble keeps occurring at Liverpool matches through factors like numbers of ticketless travelling fans, fake tickets in circulation and bad behaviour by a minority. Bonus video here of a celebrating Real fan being clobbered

| Forum Reply | Toto in a nutshell today at 17:59 15 Nov 2021
Speaking of 'confirmation bias', Toto was actually 13th on points per game last season, not the top two you've cited. For what it's worth, his stats were 1.56 points per game from 27 starts. Our 'top performing' defenders on your chosen metric were Player of the Year James Wilson with 1.76 points from 17 starts and Kenlock with 1.67 from 17 starts. Others ahead of him with a significant number of starts also included Norwood (1.65, 19), Bishop (1.61, 28) and Edwards (1.58, 29). Interestingly (or not depending on your view on the metric), Toto is the only one mentioned still in our team. Source: FBref.com |

You might as well start impugning the motives of Quest and their analysts while you're at it if you can't handle Toto's mistakes being highlighted - after asking for someone to spell them out to you. They spent a large chunk of their post-Oxford analysis doing exactly that |
| Forum Reply | Toto in a nutshell today at 20:40 14 Nov 2021
Since you ask: Oxford: Quest (regretting that they chose our 0-0 as their main game for extended highlights) went to town with their post-match analysis and concluded, with the benefit of VAR-style replays, that Toto got away with conceding two first half pens, not awarded. Was holding - they said all over - his man, Taylor I think, on one cross (tho I personally think a pen would have been harsh); later let a ball in behind him and had to chase back and make last-ditch lunge, taking Holland down fractionally before following through to get the ball. Karl Robinson booked for his protest at failure to award a pen. Previous three appearances: Oldham: Toto misjudged a long ball horribly. Edmundson came across to try and cover his mess-up but Davis curled ball around him for Oldham equaliser Wycombe: Toto outjumped on deep corner, Wheeler first to second ball gave Wycombe lead Plymouth: Penney blundered by being blindsided for shot at far post. Walton saved it but Toto had let Jephcott go, who was completely free to tap in the rebound. Second goal, neither Wolf nor Toto read the danger as Plymouth played a clever one-two inside them for Grant to score the winner. The point is that he's a wholehearted player but Toto makes far too many potentially costly errors and it is then just a question of whether or not the opposition take advantage. He's in the team for now because neither Wolf nor Burgess were better while he was out injured. His partnership with the immense Edmundson, who has moved to the left side and covers for him an awful lot, is the best to date this season but an upgrade is going to be required in January for us to give ourselves a decent chance of promotion this season. 4 clean sheets in 17 games and 25 goals conceded is not promotion standard. |

| Forum Reply | Do we release Skuse and Chambers this summer? (n/t) at 18:49 2 Mar 2020
Why release the only remaining players of an established Championship side that achieved four top half finishes under five seasons under Mick. They may be ageing but they still have enough quality and experience to be playing at third tier level. Start by releasing the tat that wasn't anywhere near Championship level and can't even do a job for a side with League One promotion aspirations - Nsiala, Donacien, Roberts, Rowe. Next nearest the exit door ought to be those that have underwhelmed in both leagues - Kenlock, Edwards, Nolan. Given Evans will now be trying to limit his losses by mainly signing only League Two players to supplement Academy products, I'd suggest Chambers and Skuse will still be comfortably better in their mid 30s than most of the newcomers we have to look forward to in the future. |
| Forum Reply | All of you people planning to vote Labour... at 18:02 10 Dec 2019
Good question. Other Diane highlights apart from supporting the IRA ahead of the British Army, calling for MI5 to be disbanded and consistently voted against any legislation empowering the police and security services are that she is Corbyn's ex-girlfriend and after consistently campaigning to abolish private schools she sent her own son to one - and then played the race card when called out on it. Anyone noticed her in this election? Labour has hidden her in the same cupboard for campaign liabilities the Tories have put Jacob Rees-Mogg in. |
