Phil can you ask the club to clarify this ticket situation?
at 19:49 8 Apr 2024

Very frustrating to hear this and 100% the club should be asked the question and held to account if this is the case.
Just because the team is doing well, it doesn’t excuse something like this if it is true.
Players, managers, chairmen, chief execs come and go, the fans are the one constant of any football club.
You can’t treat them with disdain, they should not be fobbed off.
The local media have a difficult balancing act but, ultimately, it’s the fans who provide their revenue not the club.
Right now there is a real feel-good atmosphere about the club but that doesn’t mean it can’t be criticised if they make mistakes.

Martin also saying the ref gave them nothing
at 23:27 1 Apr 2024

Doesn’t mention the fact they were play acting to try to get Morsy sent off.

Downes and Che Adams both tried to do it in the second half.

Russell Martin is an absolute tool of a man. Listening to the Saints fans in the car park, they aren’t that impressed with him either.

Flynn Downes bossed the game for 65 minutes
at 23:23 1 Apr 2024

Not totally convinced. Thought he played well but I still think he’s a bit limited going forwards.
You can argue that’s his role but he can do that for Saints because they have decent attacking options,
At Swansea, under Martin, he just passed it sideways and backwards.
McKenna’s way of playing requires some sense of dynamism and creativity from our holding midfielders.
Undoubtedly, we will need to upgrade and replace at some point but I’m not overly convinced Downes is the answer to that.

Russell Martin post match quote
at 23:12 1 Apr 2024

Martin is summed up by his antics before each game when he goes over to the away fans and applauds them. Did it at Swansea as well.
Just as cringy as Paul Cook. It’s just a ‘look at me’/ ‘please like me’ exercise.
They probably did deserve to win but they didn’t.
He can bleat on about moments but only one stat matters and that one has a 3 and a 2 in it.

Happy St Chaplow’s Day
at 15:30 21 Mar 2024

They were tough times but dismissing it from the memory is the sort of thing fairweather fans do.
Let me make this very clear, not for one second am I saying you're one of those. But it's no secret that 8,000-10,000 fans have popped out of the woodwork in the last couple of years because we've had a bit of success. And most of them will vanish when, inevitably, the wheel turns and the club experiences failure again.
You're right, 2015-21 was hard being a Town fan but that makes moments like Chaplow's goal all the more special.
It wasn't the football, it was the moment, the last minute goal, the significance of that result at the time and the sheer unbridled joy on the terraces.
I've watched Bobby Robson's teams as a youngster, gone home and away with John Duncan and John Lyall, enjoyed the Burley years and suffered all the rest in between.
Bizarrely, my favourite seasons were 1989-91 because it was the first year I could attend pretty much every game. The football wasn't great but I loved the camaraderie on the terraces, the train journeys to far flung places like Hull and Port Vale.
They are probably my happiest memories as a Town fan because I knew everyone around me was supporting the club through thick and thin.
And when we did go up in 91-92 it made everything all worth it.
McKenna's football is a joy to watch and I, like you, will obviously look back on these two seasons with fondness regardless of the outcome of this current campaign.
But when we all sing each week about following the Town whether we're up or down, then why shouldn't we still enjoy moments like Chaplow's goal?

I think ive torn my calf muscle today
at 10:17 21 Mar 2024

Like others, definitely recommend the physio.
I had it after I needed keyhole surgery on my shoulder in my late 20s. Was really sceptical at the time but my shoulder ended up being stronger than ever.
Didn’t bother with my calf because I’m older and thought I wouldn’t play cricket again apart from a few throw downs to my boys in the nets.
Still have no issue with my shoulder 20 years on but the calf feels like it could go again.

It’s not celebrated, it’s enjoyed.

It’s a happy memory. What’s wrong with that?

Is Paul Cooks Chesterfield promoted tonight?
at 09:40 21 Mar 2024

Jewell was a better manager than Cook, even if I agree he was equally chaotic at Ipswich.

His record is significantly more superior because it was achieved at a higher level.

I never wanted Cook as manager, I felt Ipswich fans were seduced by the two Cup games we played against Pompey and just assumed he was excellent.

But my Pompey mates told me at the time he messed up one promotion with a squad that should have romped League Two and was tactically flawed.

That said, I think the alternative was the Cowleys at the time and their career path has not exactly gone smoothly.

It just shows how hazardous managerial recruitment is. And how important it is to look at the ceiling of a candidate rather than their past achievements.

I think ive torn my calf muscle today
at 08:50 21 Mar 2024

Tore my calf playing cricket for the first time in 8 years.
Turned 50 last year and said I’d fill in so I could play alongside my son.
Got myself in, got a bit cocky, attempted a quick single and felt a pop in my leg as I ran.
Collapsed in a heap just past the stumps.
Thought it was cramp at first but then couldn’t put any weight on it.
Very painful and has probably put an end to any sporting comeback even if the mind is willing.
Eased up after a couple of weeks but still took 6 weeks to fully recover.
And I still get twinges now if I run for the train.
You have my sympathy.

at 08:44 21 Mar 2024

Cook was undone at Ipswich by 2 things in my opinion.

Firstly, he opted for a Scouse mafia coaching team that, at the time, was inexperienced and out of its depth.

Secondly, he made a rod for his own back with the demolition man comments. Once he ripped up the squad and got the players he wanted, he had nowhere to hide and very little goodwill in the bank when it didn’t go right. Tub thumping will only appease the fans for so long.

But you have to give him some credit for his recruitment. Morsy, Chaplin etc.

That said, good players still need good coaching. And McKenna has undoubtedly shown the value of that.

That Ref In The Arsenal Game This Evening...
at 11:09 13 Mar 2024

I thought he was outstanding.

Showed common sense, let the game flow.

He was a big reason why that match was so end-to-end and entertaining to watch.

Definitely the complete opposite to the whistling gnome Keith Stroud.

Mind you he’ll probably get marked down by UEFA for not giving enough fouls.

Who decided on the added time tactics?
at 23:33 10 Mar 2024

Genuinely think we ran out of steam and McKenna had run out of substitutions trying to chase a win.
Morsy and Davis both looked knackered which is unusual for them.
And I’m afraid the subs did not do enough in those last 10 minutes to close down the opposition, stop crosses coming in and keep possession.
Yes the defence should have dealt with the ball better for both goals but it would be harsh to solely blame them.

Very disappointed to hear a 70 year old man was knocked unconscious
at 23:29 10 Mar 2024

I said to someone yesterday it felt more like a London away day.
Seemed to be a fair few day trippers, a couple of groups I’d never seen before, which did surprise me given the distance and kick-off time.
The lads behind me definitely fell into that category, acting like it was their first away day of the season. Constant stream of incoherent drunken swearing coupled with limited knowledge of either the game, our players or our tactics.
Maybe they got tickets because other regulars were put off by the logistics of getting there.
I’m not suggesting they were responsible for any trouble though.
I appreciate the last five minutes would have created tension and, in the old days, the police would have held us back, but there’s no excuse for injuring a 70 year old man, regardless of any provocation.
Thankfully, we walked back into the city centre and saw no trouble.
Unfortunately success brings an influx of new or born-again fans and not all of them are welcome.
As for the anti-Welsh chants, the irony of waving a Union Jack as an English symbol appears to be lost on some.
And when 3 of our regular 4-man strikeforce play for Wales, it does sound a little moronic.
Particularly when you consider the rest of the country think we’re sheep sha**ers

McKenna on Stuttgart’s list?
at 23:03 10 Mar 2024

Not sure we’re in danger of losing McKenna to Stuttgart.
Hoeness has just extended his contract until 2027 and they’ll most likely be in the Champions League next season.
By the time Hoeness leaves or is sacked, we would have probably lost McKenna to a Premier Leagur club.

Only drawn 5 games, won 15, lost 16. Doesn’t sound like they will sit back.

Without overstating the obvious, we can’t afford a sleepy start to the game.

Which player had the most successful transfer to the prem?
at 10:08 29 Feb 2024

Maybe not the most successful but certainly one of the most surprising was Damien Delaney.

If we’re talking silverware Richard Wright has a couple of title-winning medals and an FA Cup on his cv.

I think that's fair comment although he is our most effective centre half. And being left-footed does give us much-needed balance.

Morsy now on 12 bookings
at 22:37 24 Feb 2024

It's going to be a real tightrope avoiding 3 bookings in 12 games but not impossible.
Unfortunately some of those bookings in the past have been avoidable (eg..kicking the ball away at Boro) and that's the frustration because now he's going to pay for it.
We desperately need Morsy in the run-in if we're to maintain our automatic promotion push.
But if we tail away come April, he'd be better off getting the ban and being available for the playoffs.
