Twitchy
at 11:02 30 May 2024

I mean, is it just me that is getting twitchy?

Ten Hag announcement imminent. McKenna still getting linked to the Man Utd job, CAA Base seem to be a fairly ruthless bunch. Brighton have gone quiet.

I think whatever happens, we need some stability for at least the next 12 months. We can't have this happening every 5 mins.

Are these guys being paid by Brighton at all?

I have not seen any positive articles about why McKenna should stay or polls showing how much the fans want McKenna to stay etc and all i see is them big up the Brighton role.

Is there something going on we don’t know about?

Now thats what I call an article

Sorry for linking EADT - but really, this surely has to be the clear message we need to be putting out there.

Well done Karl Fuller and I mean specifically:

"Be assured Kieran, nobody wants you more than we do. We have such an exciting ride to remain on, together."

or

"Nobody wants you more than us, Kieran - so stay and become a legend"

and that is the only message we need to be broadcasting to Kieran.

Brighton have succeeded with our playing style, Burnley failed, has anyone analysed why?

Man Utd - what a mess
at 13:58 25 May 2024

Setting McKenna aside here (and I really hope he has not been involved in all this ETH business), they really are a complete and utter mess aren't they.

You have ETH saying he is staying for next season, all the media reporting the opposite, I mean what an absolute mess.

I know we have a complete circus going on ourselves here, but at least it is not our own clubs doing.

If any of this is true and they are indeed sacking him, they really have zero integrity.

Brighton Transfers - last 3 years
at 13:46 21 May 2024

2023/2024: Total: £61,800,000 (£23m MF, £16m GK, £14.5m DF, £7.8m DF)
2022/2023: Total: £56,000,000 (£30m MF, £15m DF, £7.5M MF, £3.5m MF)
2021/2022: Total: £55,000,000 (£20m MF, £15m DF, £9.5m MF, £6m MF, £4.2m GK)

Interesting, none of the big money has gone on strikers. I wonder if their transfer policy is based around 'strikers cost a lot of money' and the 'value' is in buying top notch GF, DF and MF.

A take on the Brighton role
at 10:37 21 May 2024

- Brighton have peaked, it may be possible to get them top 6, but it is highly unlikely, they certainly don't have the momentum we have.

- Brighton are basically a small club, they had empty seats vs Man Utd, and the Goldstone ground with 7,000 is a true reflection of what underpins that club. It would not take much to send them into a reversal of fortunes

- De Zerbi is loved by the Senior players at Brighton, would they respect McKenna in the same way?

- Getting itfc from the bottom of the Premier League (our expected position) to even 14th position would be seen as a major success, whereas to get Brighton into that Top 8 really is going to be very tough, so there is no easy upward movement there for Brighton.

- Barber has clearly fallen out with De Zerbi. Whilst he looks fairly smug and pleased with himself in
the presser, the reality is De Zerbi has left, it really isn't that good a gig is it? else he would not have moved on. De Zerbi clearly felt he has moved them as high as he could

- If McKenna moves now, he knows the fans have been waiting 20 years for this moment. He knows, he has the whole of Suffolk behind him. Will he get that same support at Brighton? Many will likely question his appointment and if he does not get them higher, he may well be considered a failure there.

- McKenna's character could be called into question if he leaves itfc now. He has built up a team that
will walk over hot coals for him, if he goes now, he really is giving Ashton a huge headache,
for him to do this firstly to Ashton, the players, and the supporters could look bad.

- Momentum is a powerful thing, we have it, and next season there will be feverish support at portman road, that can take us a long long way.

- If itfc splash out £100m on players right now, and then we compare our squad with Brighton's, it might not be a million miles off, but the level of expectation at Brighton is way higher.
