Classic bogey team. They always seem to be able to 'bully' and out muscle us. But we've improved since last time we played them. I think home advantage will see us to a narrow win. Anyway, will lay down a marker for the kind of opposition we're hoping to meet next season. |
 | News Comment | Town and Oldham Ball 26 in FA Cup Draw at 14:52:12
Ok, we know if we turn up at Oldham we can still beat them, and the same goes for anyone we meet in the second round. So why not go for it and give ourselves a chance of a decent Cup run, or at least go out in a blaze of glory in a plum tie against Man C, Liverpool or Chelsea? What fan doesn't want that? I don't believe in this 'not bother with the Cup in order to concentrate on the League' nonsense. Hasn't worked in the last ten plus years, why would it work now? |

Suddenly it's 'only' seven points from the play-offs with 39 games to go. Not so unachievable. And there points from there to automatic. Our promotion rivals will soon be looking over their shoulders. |
 | News Comment | Aluko: A Bitter One But We'll Bring Fans Happy Times at 18:57:58
I'm very relieved that things are going to get better. I was beginning to worry. But with the gap to the play-offs, let alone automatic, already a chasm, I already have severe doubts about whether we can make it. A sorry position after six games. Our first win will be a relief, and hopefully will give us the confidence to go on a run, as top half by Christmas is otherwise already looking fanciful. |

To all those who marked down my comment (17:22) daring to suggest we might have difficulty making up eight points on the likes of Portsmouth and Wednesday, congratulations: love your optimism, and wish I shared it! |

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. I'd hate to say we were out of contention for automatic after only four games, but our rivals aren't half already disappearing over the horizon..... |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 3-1 Fleetwood Town - Match Report at 16:25:18
I know the game was meaningless, and I know I'm hard to please, but slightly disappointed in the final result given the victory was secured so early on. 3-0 after half an hour and naively hoping we might really turn the screw and run up a big score. But that's Town for you, we're not ruthless enough. Conversely, Fleetwood probably quite happy about the final score considering what might have been. Still, nice to end on a very comfortable win, all too rare occurrence, and presents just a glimmer of hope for next season. Paul Cook in! |

Not so naive as to say we'd have finished top if Norwood had been fit all season, but when he has been fit, he tends to have done well. I rate him and our success next season could be strongly influenced by whether he stays off the treatment table or not. |
