Case in point. There were one or two moments in this build-up where it was tight and some fans were probably thinking- Just get rid of it!. But this drew in the opposition and allowed Chaplin to switch it to Davis in acres of space. The rest is history:-
These opposition previews are excellent and your predictions re line-ups, how the game will be played and even scores are never far off the mark. For example, congrats on predicting we'd win this game 2-1.
I wasn't sure what Mckenna meant by longitudinally. I had to look it up. I think he means in the statistical sense: 'By sampling data over time rather than merely once'. First time I've had to use a dictionary to understand a football manager. Makes a change from 'the boys done well'.
I expect Brandon is seen as a quality player to help Leif Davis get through what will be a long, hard season. I suspect Leif and Wes Burns have close to the most physcially demanding roles in the team. To reduce the risk of injury and/or burn-out, they will probably both need to be rested at some stage.
Very wise words and McKenna will be our most successful manager since Burley BUT he needs to learn one thing: If he's not happy with the way his team is playing he needs to change it asap- not just vent his frustration while it's not too late. Imagine Klopp, Ferguson, Pepi or Conti. They all would find a way to get their teams to lift their tempo and urgency.
Oops- I meant to include Flynn Downes in the list of promising midfiled players. Just to emphasise the point:-
Flynn Downes- 5 x Eng U19 Caps Andre Dozzell 32 Eng caps (U16 to U19) Teddy Bishop- called up Eng U19- withdrew through injury Trisan Nydam 1 x Eng U18, 1 x Eng U19 Emyr Huws- 12 x Full Wales caps
“I look at Liverpool against Man City and Liverpool showed best way to go about stopping a team playing. In this game, you have joy from giving it a go. That's what we did on the day. We were on the front foot. We'll try and approach it in the same manner. I don't have any different tactics home or away, you're trying to win matches wherever you are."
As long he plays attacking football and makes the most of our youngsters he'll be backed by Town fans. If we can have much better luck with injuries next season, I could see us getting promoted. Which Championship has more unfulfilled potential in midfield than Dozzell, Bishop, Nydam, Adeyemi, Ward and Huws?
Of course JET could become a very good player but he's had many chances and MM & TC have had plenty of time to take a close look at him. MM seems to deal in certainties not wishful thinking. Taking into account that retaining JET could trigger more fees, I think MM has made a wise decision. I'd like to see us take a punt on a two or three young, hungry players from outside the Premier League- that's where we've had most success on the transfer market- Walters, Cresswell, Chambers, Hewitt, Loach, Nouble, McGoldrick (sure I've missed some)
I don't think that players that have been stars or been at 'massive' clubs in the Premier league are hungry enough to play in the Championship- Chopra, Bowyer, Reo-Coker, JET, Martin spring to mind- sure I've missed some. I suppose Carlos is the exception that proves the rule.
I suppose I'm really talking about attitude- hunger, a little humility and professionalism. Our experience has shown that you're much more likely to find these attributes in players if they see ITFC as career progression rather than a step-down.
It's official Norwich will be relegated! Unfortunately their GD will just be too bad.
