McCarthy: No Need for Apology, Chambo, You Scored the Winner!
at 09:38:12

Chambers was far from the worst player in our team. Knudsen was a liability and looked out of his depth, lacking any sort of pass or vision.
As for the quality of the game, I felt both sides were poor and that we lacked pace and urgency for much of the game - but we won - and sometimes we need to be thankful for that, as we go into the second half of the season with a chance.
For those in the crowd who seem to revel in misery any time a player makes a mistake, how much do you think the jeering helps the team - you are supporters, the clue is in the name.

Duo in Team of the Week
at 13:16:22

Neither of these should make team of the week. Carlos was a passenger for most of the game and without cover from the, once again, impressive Stearman would have cost us the game. Tabb was busy but ineffective, maybe a couple of weeks to bed in will help him.

McCarthy: Point Gained
at 22:28:36

PJewellisagod - can't agree re: Smith. Apart from a tendency to favour his left foot (something forgiveable in a left footed player) he made one significant mistake, then pursued the player at pace, with sufficient pressure to force a poor shot. To suggest he should be a back up to a back up of Chambers or Higginbotham is incredible.

As for Martin, a handful of runs at an opposition player (including for the penalty), but an awful lot of killing the pace in a move and missing his pass then berating the nearest player in a blue shirt for not having the psychic capacity to get to the ball.

The only way we were going to score was with a penalty, let's be thankful for small mercies.

Carson in Northern Ireland U21s
at 12:41:39

Can't agree regarding Saturday. There is a difference between not wanting the ball and not being given the ball. Time and again a quick ball into Josh w ould have launched a pacy attack, time and again Carlos received the ball, took two aces forward, stopped, looked up, had a think, then played the ball flat r backwards.

How, given the way we've played, or not, do we expect young players to push on. Once you've had the confidence knocked out of you, how are you supposed to cone into a team and be the star.

Good luck, Josh, keep working and the rewards will come.

Don't worry people, normal service will be resumed shortly when the 'Supporters Club' complains about people in the dugout standing up and making too much noise during the game.

Hutchings: Senior Players Let Me Down
at 23:14:39

No bright spots today, just the grim reality of the results of relying on journeymen and loanees. I thought Hyam and Carson gave it their best, Creswell looks completely devoid of confidence. As for the rest - least said, but we need to give the captaincy to someone who gives a toss and Henderson may as well have been playing for Sheffield.

Petulant reaction at the end of the game today. 'Busy' when it didn't matter, largely clueless when it did. That said, he wasn't alone in that regard.

Good blog, big foot blue, ultimately people will choose their own name for the stand.

Hint for eaii: placing multiple exclamation or question marks at the end of a sentence doesn't actually enhance the point made, generally the opposite is true.

DefaultUser - that'll be the historic West Stand then?

This is a great link-up. Local, ethical business and a football club trying to live within its means. I would far rather this than some online betting website or 'discount sportswear' outlet.

If it puts funds into the club that mean we can be more competitive, we won't need to worry about the seats, as they will be occupied.

Rower Williams Joins Staff
at 17:37:02

I'd like to think that the negative comments are tongue-in-cheek, but past experience would suggest not.

This has the potential to be a great appointment - a bit of lateral thinking for a change.

Successful coaches will draw on expertise from many different sports, rather than getting stuck in the same old routine. For example, Stuart Lancaster (England Rugby - for those of you who only follow football!) and Stuart Pearce (I'm presuming most will have heard of him?) have attended and taken part in each other's training sessions.

As for 'Clegg scores another potential own goal' - if it is 'jobs for the boys' then great, the GB rowing team are one of the best organised, most successful sporting teams this country has produced.

Season Ticket Deadline Today

BotesdaleBlue- why not look at it the other way round, a significant discount for committing your money early. Given that this could be anything up to five months in advance of the first game of next season, it's not that difficult to justify, is it?

Jewell: We Never Recovered From First Leicester Goal

There was no desire or positive action in the team today. Carson was no worse than most, although I agree Bowyer was poor. However, Delaney mom?!?!?! How many moons does your planet have?

Delaney Makes Case for the Defence
at 16:03:23

Footyblue - you make an excellent point. Smith is clearly the senior 'partner' as he is coping well on his wrong side and looking to cover the gaps when others get caught out of position.
Personally, I thought Delaney did OK on Saturday, recovering from Middlesbrough not bothering to mark him on Tuesday. I don't see the need to replace both CB in the summer. One senior, preferably right-sided first choice to lead the line is the priority, with some more versatile cover for both sides. Smith has earned his contract and should have it in front of him before it is too late.
