| Forum Thread | Cards today? at 10:44 6 Apr 2024
As with most of our derbys I can’t shift and irrational fear of a red card, especially not having had one yet this season. At the same time I’m normally wrong about most things when I share a view so hopefully by posting this it t means it doesn’t happen Obviously there’s the issue of Morsy and not wanting to be without him for the remaining games so hopefully he can avoid a yellow, he’s a pro and he’s done it before so let’s hope he does again Whatever happens what a hell of a season, but what a hell of a cherry on the top beating them today would be! |

Yep, totally agree, fair points. I suppose I just naively thought given the extensive renovation, all the drainage systems, the fact its hybrid etc that it would be best placed of all to handle it and to not look how it did. But like I say I have no facts or knowledge to base it on Buabo wise I believe his only previous minutes for us were two cup games, Arsenal U21s and against Bracknell |

Whilst everyone will be whinging about the poor performance I would like to take the opportunity to whinge about something else - the pitch I was only watching on town TV and I know there's been a hell of a lot of rain but it seemed to be cutting up pretty bad, especially towards West Stand / SBR. Caveat - I know f**k all about gardening, grass, all these fancy systems we paid lots for, just genuine surprise rightly or wrongly. On a positive note although I think he only had a couple of touches I have a bit of optimism about Buabo, seems strong and able to hold the ball up nicely. The rest of the stand ins I'm afraid dispel this strength in depth idea, maybe switching one or two out but I think it showed today what we need. Roll on January |
| Forum Thread | Carbon warm up top - any quality issues? at 23:24 26 Dec 2023
Sorry for the random question, but I'm lucky enough that my other half bought me the carbon grey warm up top for my birthday from the umbro site. Only worn it twice but in multiple places it has what looks like its been caught on something causing imperfections (it hasn't been caught on anything) Anyone else had the same issues with this top? |
| Forum Thread | Williams v Clarke at 00:26 16 Dec 2023
it's the big day!' Williams is a hell of a player, but I can't help but having a niggling fear about him getting sent off if he starts!. Probably irrational but the refs red card rate and the potential for Williams to get a bit overhyped against his old loan Club gives me a worry (he'll be getting a lot of stick about how he left etc too). On that basis (and coming off early at Watford) Clarke swings it for me. Whoever plays, they'll give it their best and I hope everyone (Town fans!) enjoys watching and we have something to celebrate PS: You know what, to sort this for us I'll stick a bet on Williams getting a red card. It sure as hell won't then! [Post edited 16 Dec 2023 0:30]

| Forum Reply | Building extension question at 19:43 19 Jul 2023
I can only answer based on my experience and my conversations with my council building regs officer 3 years ago when building my extension In my case I had to use fire rated plasterboard to protect the steels and create an encasement. I also had to leave this exposed for the building regs officer to see I had done it before I could plaster on top (my understanding now is you can just do photos and upload them to a portal) Surely you have your local building regs officer who has had to visit or an independent one who will advise on this?. Ultimately once they sign it off that’s the main thing but If you want it done correctly my understanding is it would need to be encased The only occasion I can think this might not be the case is if you are doing it within permitted development and keeping the original doors partitioning from your main building in which case you might not need to I’m doing a porch at the mo and because I want to remove my internal door everything needs to meet building regs but if I left the internal door I could near enough make it from Papier-mâché [Post edited 19 Jul 2023 19:45]

| Forum Thread | let's take a minute to appreciate how far we've come at 23:40 27 Apr 2023
What a fantastic run we have had of late.. But I was thinking just earlier we only have to go back to December 2021 and the game away to Charlton at the Valley - the boos, the tensions, the videos from the end of the game. Walton being pushed, Nsiala falling out with the crowd and if I remember right Morsy generally not loving life nor endearing himself to the fans at that point. 16 months later and we are here, a club, a team and a fanbase seemingly united and the team spirit obvious to all. Well done to everyone involved in bringing this change and long may it last, whatever happens on Saturday |

Tbf given my recent significant weight gain I steered well clear in the interests of the team. I did see him picking a 6-7 year old shirt though off the shelves |

Rest assured I would like to think I personally covered this off. After quite a few shandys I found myself sat next to him at a Town v Burnley game at Turfmoor, probably about 10 years ago. I felt the need to rant at him about how much of a legend I thought he was and how terrible Roy Keane and Paul Jewell were. I personally feel saddened if he didn't take on board the compliments and rantings of a pi$$ed guy at a football game. [Post edited 30 Jul 2022 23:35]

| Forum Thread | What a difference fair play at 17:30 8 Jan 2022
What a difference. Only 2 games in and early days as we all know. But immediately what an improvement. 90% of my previous posts have harked back to the Burley esque days of the late 90s, not because I don’t embrace change but because I embrace commitment, work rate and effort throughout. The last 2 games we have shown that In 2 very different ways. If that is the effect of McKenna so soon then fantastic and well done to him and the lads these past weeks My only hope is the likes of Cook don’t see this and think it in anyway proves he was only a couple of games from the team clicking, not a chance. The guy was devoid of the strategy and ability to inspire the guys in a way McKenna appears to of in the last few weeks. Bedsides, in my opinion this clicking thing can be a bit of a nonsense. It should only really be the difference of drawing rather than winning and in no way justifies lacking application and abject performances from professional players. For that to happen there was something much more wrong in Cooks set up. For those of you that watched the swindon game last night (my most local team now since my move you will know in the summer they nearly went under. They had 6 players in the summer and cobbled them together and are giving it a good go In their league. This is because their management got it right, not because of ‘clicking’. Only 2 games but my god well done to McKenna and the lads to transform their efforts. That is all I can ever wish for to walk away from a game knowing they gave it everything come win, lose or draw. I'm no fashion expert so it's not the colour or stitch work or anything that I find offensive! I think my point was dressing for an 'event' as your examples support, rather than a begrudging 'necessity'. It becomes a show in it's own right and in my opinion more about the riders and there wants / a jolly day out than any true justification. |

Where this happened is only a couple of miles from where I now live. It's worth noting that in the South of the county (Pewsey I think) on the very same day a hunt went ahead with not a single person there to oppose it, and they assembled in the town centre. I'm not a fan of hunting but I am also fairly pragmatic. I think the thing that really grates me is how pompous and self indulgent a hunt is. If there really ever is a need to cull then why does it need to be so glorified all dressed in their matching jackets and celebrated so freely in large numbers. If it truly was purely about natural country requirements to keep a balance etc anyone half decent human would carry it out without the fanfare and joy. But they don't, it is more about them as individuals and hunt groups than any justified requirement. It isn't just what they do, it's how they do it |

No it doesn't 'matter'. Was just out of interest if anyone had an idea on the amount. Especially as the financial salary isn't always a motivator it can be a demotivator for those who aren't fully engaged and know worst case they'll be due for a good payoff if their contract is terminated early. My guess is this deal has been stacked up pretty differently to our last few managers and more weighted in favour of achievement and progress with big rewards when that happens. McKenna has done a lot, but he also has a lot to prove on his own and I like that. He seems to have the right mentality and its nice to have done something a little different this time perhaps |

Yes I'd imagine so. But that's quite a jump to Championship average salaries if those average numbers are anything to go by, so even if the initial money wasn't too far off Man Utd the opportunity with reaching the Championship and bonuses etc would be huge. Fair play to Mckenna, money aside this is a big one for him for his career and he's made quite a move and will have a lot invested in this to establish himself as a standalone manager. I respect that and think its good to have someone who isn't just floating around maybe earning the £500k mark irrespective of their performance and in the knowledge they'll get a high paid job elsewhere if it doesn't go well. He seems like a detail man and hope it turns out well for him and all of us |

I've just had a little google and found this... Manager salaries in League One are fascinating. The average League One manager is paid over £180,000 per year. That’s a salary that most of us would love to have, but it’s a way off what Championship bosses are earning. The average manager in the second tier lands over £870,000 per year, with the best-paid Championship manager pocketing a handy £3.46 million. Even the highest-paid League One manager doesn’t meet the Championship average. Of the 15 League One clubs who replied to the survey, £550,000 was the largest manager salary. This salary was earned by a manager at a ‘southern club’ with the East Anglian Daily Times speculating that this would be former Aston Villa and Stoke manager, now of Ipswich, Paul Lambert. |

How much do we think McKenna might be on salary wise approximately? or Cook have been on for that matter?. I have no feelings about this and don't have an issue with it or begrudge it, more just interested what a manager in this league might be on and giving my brain a break from thinking about Covid, our season so far and what to eat next. I'm going to assume McKenna is likely to be highly incentivised financially on milestones and achievements. |
