Brain Injuries in Football
at 10:24 8 Aug 2018

Just came across the following article and had been unaware of the inquest before and thought others may have also been:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-26817099

If the FA fail to publish any research then it doesn't reflect well on the organisation and will only look worse in the future as more details come to light, you only have to look at how the story in the NFL is unfolding.

Do parents with young children at the moment worry about letting their children play football, or other sports? It wasn't something that ever crossed my mind growing up so i'm not sure if the risks would have impacted my participation if the they were known, or the potential risks were publicised. I'm guessing those concerns are amplified when it becomes your children.

Chromecast vs Amazon TV vs ... advice
at 15:55 13 Jun 2018

Looking to get a cheap device (<£50) to enable use of a second TV that is otherwise going unused as no aerial connection.

Can TWTD’ers offer any advice on which is the best option? Looked mainly at the two in the title but open to others
- we have Netflix, can access Amazon prime but don’t really use it
- ideally would have access to Netflix, BBC iplayer, ITV, 4od, including live Tv. Maybe YouTube as well
- showing content from a phone/laptop would be a bonus
- unlikely to use it for watching long films, more as background viewing

Any suggestions?

January Sales...

Looks like Bart, McGoldrick and Moore could all be off, for what sounds like a combined sum of £5-7m, according to what you choose to believe.

It's actually a reasonably large amount of money, which could make a difference to the squad, particularly if you consider some of the players we have picked up over the years on the cheap; Mings, Waghorn, Mcg, Webster etc.

My main issue with the current team though is that it feels like it's predominantly made up of average, and a few above average, Championship level players - the best of which are injury prone. I'm not confident we're just missing one piece of the jigsaw puzzle, though some obviously believe that piece to be McCarthy.

Where would you therefore spend the money? I would want to see it invested in a number of young, promising players from divisions below - prospects - some of which may fail, but enough of them that a few could be game changers and lead to a promotion push in a few seasons. It would also give better depth to the squad whilst fitting the financial 'plan'

Rewriting history

How differently would McCarthy’s tenure be viewed if we had scraped in to the playoffs, instead of 7th, a few seasons ago? If my memory serves me correctly, ipswich would have been Top 6 in March had it not been for throwing away the lead at Bolton to a last minute penalty - that’s singling out one event, but that season arguably turned on a few close games.

Had that season been a top 6 finish it’s hard to believe McCarthy would still be such a divisive character today.

How to follow tonight's game?

What's the best way to follow the match this evening? Apparently iFollow isn't available. Does that mean there won't be a rights restriction on listening to Radio Suffolk online?

Impatience for a signing...
at 10:21 12 Jan 2017

I previously had thought we needed to sign a forward immediately in January to have a shot at making the play-offs this season, however, this season will clearly be resigned to 'rebuilding'. Surely therefore we should place less pressure on a quick transfer and instead allow the entire window to get the right person?

That said, it won't stop me from returning to TWTD every 5 minutes to check on any rumours/activity, followed by compounding disappointment on each occasion.
