Blues Exit Youth Cup on Penalties Wed 11th Dec 2013
Town’s U18s exited the FA Youth Cup at the third round stage, losing a penalty shoot-out 4-2 to Sunderland at Portman Road after normal time and extra-time had ended 1-1. Jack Willbye lashed in a brilliant 45-yard strike for the Blues in the first half with Lynden Gooch equalising for the visitors after the break.

Holland to Spurs Rumour Fri 28th Jan 2000
Stories in the papers today suggest that George Graham is afer Town captain Matt Holland. The Spurs manager rates the Town star at £3.5 million. Apparently Town have turned down an offer, however if a ludicrous fee was offered Town would have to consider it. Holland himself has said he is very happy at the club and with living in the area. Town were reported to have turned down offers from Bradford and Fulham in the summer.
Johnson and Naylor in? Wed 15th Dec 1999
David Johnson seems likely to be fit for Saturday's game with West Bromwich Albion. Despite this there is a great deal of speculation amongst fans and the local media that Richard Naylor may get a start with James Scowcroft moving into midfield. Naylor had a very bright eighteen minutes when he came on during the Southampton game on Monday.
Palace Hope Pitch Plays its Part Tue 07th Dec 1999
Crystal Palace are hoping that the notoriously field-like Selhurst Park pitch may help them overcome Town tonight (7.45). Injury and financial disaster hit Palace beat Town 3-2 towards the end of last season when the pitch clearly hindered Town's passing game. The Town squad: R Wright, Croft, McGreal, Mowbray, Brown, Clapham, Stockwell, Magilton, Holland, Johnson, Scowcroft, Venus, Salmon, J Wright, Friars, Axeldal, Wilnis, Naylor and Midgley
Town Let Lead Slip Sun 29th Aug 1999
Town lost their 100% record when they let an early two goal lead slip in the second half at Sheffield United. A gloriously inept piece of goalkeeping in the third minute from Simon Tracey saw a weak James Scowcroft shot bobble over the 'keeper's shoulder and into the net.
Jermaine Gears Up For Decision Wed 21st Jul 1999
Jermaine Wright will today decide whether he will join Town or Forest. Wright has said that he was impressed with what he heard from Town when he spoke to Burley and Sheepshanks at St Albans on Monday, but was in talks with Forest yesterday.
It's Grim Down South! Tue 20th Jul 1999
That's what Martin Smith thinks according to Town manager George Burley. The 24 year old former Sunderland winger apparently was unsure about moving south and that was why he failed to agree terms with Town. Presumably the beautiful Suffolk countryside and clean air didn't compare with the grim, soot-stained rundown industrial complexes and smog of his native north.
Town Smith Out Mon 19th Jul 1999
Martin Smith has failed to agree terms with the club after today's discussions. Whether any further talks are likely and whether he is still off on the tour has not been revealed, although we'd imagine that is unlikely. Seemed like quite a decent palyer from what Sunderland fans were saying.
Scandinavian Blues Mon 19th Jul 1999
Town are hoping to get Martin Smith to put his signature to a contract today. The 24 year old former Sunderland player is amongst those off on the usual pre-season jaunt round Scandinavia. Let's hope it leads to Town's usual excellent start to the season that has served us so well in recent years. Er..
