Town secured their place in round two of the Carabao Cup for the first time in three years after goals from Jack Taylor, on his debut, and Sone Aluko saw them to a 2-0 victory over Bristol Rovers at Portman Road. Taylor gave the Blues the lead in the 12th minute, then sub Aluko added the second on 76 as Town dominated the latter stages and might have scored more.
