Ipswich Town 2 v 2 MK Dons

Time to recognise (already) that our much vaunted midfield pair aren't as good as we hoped. Harper shows touches but often looks behind the pace and so rarely produces anything positive. And Evans was frightful today, even before giving the goal away. I would give Carroll a chance beside Harper in the next match. Let's hope it's all just teething problems!

Players showing un- needed pressure causing lack of knowhow, in a league that they should not take lightly

Great match!

Hladky - very good performance. Lots of excellent saves and not to blame for the goals.
Woolfenden - mostly very good but unfortunately responsible for the goals.
Burgess - solid throughout.
Vincent-Young - fantastic assist, but not great defensively.
Coulson - good in attack, but made a few errors.
Evans - not much to say, an average performance.
Harper - good at first but seemed to tire and made some mistakes.
Burns - average performance, a few good moments and unlucky not to score.
Fraser - struggled to get into the game but an excellent assist.
Edwards - brilliant footwork and lots of attacks, but not involved as much as hoped.
Bonne - superb. Two perfect finishes, and is the best finisher at Ipswich for some time.
Penney - very good when introduced. Unlucky to be dropped.
Dobra - didn’t influence the game much but did some good running.
Carroll - barely involved but didn’t have much time.

Not good enough, still too slow esp in central mid where we gave up control to MK
Evans was terrible and made their midfield look good. Good performance from Burgess and pleased he is left footed but left back looked v poor so pleased Penney came on. Woolfy still making poor decisions so sadly he must be replaced. However Edwards was great and Bonne too with 2 excellent goals but would prefer 2 strikers. Surely Cook can see that we need someone with Bonne otherwise defenders are getting upperhand with high kicks from keeper.
Dobra brought on too late and then didn't get a chance!

WE said before the game dont make mistakes and dont let Twine shoot! Some excellent and exciting displays and some horrendous defending. The two midfielders were hopelessly outnumbered and never got going. We wanted excitement and we got 100%. Macauley and Kyle stood out a mile. Bumper crowd and mega singing at my end.Cant wait until the next home game..........

Agree in so far as I think we are losing the battle in midfield and have a bit of sympathy for the defence. Whether this is down to player performance or being overstretched is open to debate. For me, in an effort to be more creative/attacking, we are leaving large holes in between....particularly when central midfielders/full backs begin to tire. Two of the players(Fraser, Evans) are not contributing nearly enough. Im glad we are trying to be more attacking but there needs to be a balance. Having said all that we are gifting the opposition goals again and again. I dont agree with comments made on Hladky......thought he could have done much better with both the first goals versus Cheltenham/MK Dons.....seemed afraid that he would collide with the goalpost......which is part and parcel of being a goalkeeper.

Not impressed with Keeper. He did ok with routine stuff but his kicking and general distribution were poor.
All his kicks from hand were too high and gave Bonne too much to do to get under control. He didn't throw much either when there were options to counter-attack. Holy maybe better but thought PC could have done a lot better when you consider that so many good keepers spend most of their time bench warming!!

Too much back-passing, particularly from Evans. Everybody makes mistakes, but if you pass forward and it goes wrong, you have a chance to get the ball back. If you constantly pass the ball back, you will inevitably mess up eventually and usually it is impossible for you, or your teammates to do anything about it.
