That’s a hell of a drop for him - he can’t be getting Mullin type money, either? Or maybe it’s to get more golf in with Gwion?

Either way, what’s the story behind this?

Don't think there's any story. He's 32 now. Looked way off it against us in April. He's always struck me as being a guy who prefers being a big fish in a small pond to feed his ego, so a couple of years banging them in at NL level for Oldham, living in and around Manchester, should suit him just fine.

Barnsley fans love him, he was linked with Wrexham. Strange goings on.

Tbf think he’s been living with Gwion in Manchester since he left here anyway.

To think we had a few that swore down he was the best in L1 and would walk into any champ team.

A bit surprised. I'm sure league 2 clubs would have had him and there is plenty up that area (I'm sure Tranmere would take him back!)

He'll score plenty in the national league, if he stays fit.

I don't think anyone said that to be fair, but he was good for us, then the club and fans turned against him while he could still do a job (as he proved). But then - like all our ex-players - it was time to move on.
Then we got better, he got older.

Good luck Nors!

Probably one of our better players in a period of complete mediocrity but for me will always be a primark whymark.

I wonder how one of our worst ever players feels about living with Gwion?

Not sure what’s going on at Barnsley, as limited a footballer as Norwood is I still thought he was their best striker last year. Lost a few important players and manager, can see them struggling.

On the surface, this seems an odd move for all concerned. Barnsley trigged his option a few weeks ago and he’s started all their pre-season games, so presumably Barnsley had him in their plans. He can clearly play at a higher level.

Like anything in sport, when it doesn’t make sense the answer is money.

I liked Nors. I liked his attitude. I liked his work rate. I liked his goals.
But my favourite Town player of all time was the great Trevor Whymark. So overlooked and undervalued when people look back at Robson's teams.
But what a player!
So modest, so understated, but sublime skills, an ability to hang in the air, and goals galore.
I know this thread is about Norwood, but any excuse to tell youngsters how good Trevor Whymark was must be taken.

Who didn't look way off it against us during our last 15 games of the season? We were far too good.

He came on at Wembley in the PO final and was Barnsley's only hope. Him dropping to non league has understandably raised eyebrows.

I’m surprised. He was liked by the Barnsley supporters and he made a real impact in the play off final. Looks good enough for L1, even if only as an impact sub. All a bit strange.

I suspect there "big fish in a small pond" analogy might have some truth to it. Chap wants to retire a hero while playing regularly I suspect.

I think Barnsley are in a real mess financially, so jumped at the chance to sell someone.

Their last 2-3 months have been a horror show and point to some real underlying issues.
