I'm sure I saw a report at the start of the season which said Luton had to spend £10m in the preseason to get their stadium to meet Prem rules.

Crime: perceptions divorced from reality?
at 16:40 16 May 2024

Data is only worthwhile if it contains all data. Lots of crime like muggings, antisocial behaviour etc aren't reported where I live in London as they know the MET won't investigate, so excluded from official data. But everyone who lives around here know its happening regularly
So peoples perception (well actual knowledge) is crime is increasing but the official crime reported figures don't reflect it

This could be a double satire situation...

Frimley's comment was satire.... but then this response is potentially satire....

Guardian reporting McKenna to Man Utd link
at 07:25 15 May 2024

I still think Man U will want to see how he performs as a manager in the Prem next season with Ipswich. Relegation won't automatically hurt him personally, the so-called experts will all expect Ipwich to be relegated, especially after taking us from L1 in 2 seasons. Its not like Burnley who had been relegated from the Prem and then promoted back the following season. It will be our style of play and how he tries to prevent relegation they will be more interested in.

Based purely on what I read during a holiday earlier this year

The Fraud by Zadie Smith
Birnam Wood by Eleanor Catton
Age Of Vice by Deepti Kapoor

All were excellent novels

If you had £30m to spend on 2 players today
at 07:09 13 May 2024

2 things:

If people believe Nketiah is on £100k a week at Arsenal as reported, then Downs will be around £50k a week at West Ham. No agent would allow much less.

Rhodes, when he moved to Boro he demanded prem wages and was on £30k a week, and that was in 2016. Prem wages have increased since then.

Although it also proves players can look incapable of playing at a lower level but improve to play at a higher level - Joselu not good enough for Stoke in 2017, scoring 2 goals for Real Madrid in the CL semi 2024

So you don't think KM is capable of coaching players like Taylor to be Prem level?

Also Broadhead who KM has said previously he's more than capable of playing at Prem level

I think some fans are underplaying how much KM can improve the current squad.

An underrated moment in our season ...
at 10:12 8 May 2024

Agreed. Although I still feel Broadhead's first goal away against Sunderland in that first game was massive. We looked very nervous in that first half, but had created the better chances, to go in leading 1-0 at half time changed the belief in the players.

Similar was Ladapo v Cardiff, to get that result from the losing position we found ourselves in spread confidence in the team and fans

Eddie Nketiah rumours being picked up by more sources...
at 10:07 8 May 2024

With Al Hamadi did we buy him with a long or short term view? Other clubs were apparently circling around him and we jumped in quickly to buy him before they did, which suggests to me it was long term. However was the view he would be better suited to the championship next season if we failed to get promotion.
Personally I think he could surprise a few teams in the Prem next season. He clearly has the physical strength, and from reports carrying an injury, maybe a fully fit AH could become the unforseen gem.

Championship players we could be looking to sign this summer

Hamer has had a good season in a poor Sheff U team, would be a good one to get.

Although I'm assuming Sheff are going to want a lot more than they paid for him as he's still on a longish contract
