Could be a good option.

Pace to burn and can play on either wing, so good options.

Would also mean we are less exposed if Burns was out for long periods.

Repeatedly said there was no way he would take the Brighton job.

It would have been a bad career move. Less opportunity to enhance his reputation there.

Maybe the FA Cup win saved us!?!?!

Welcome home Kieran.

Professsional football club trials.... thoughts?!
at 10:17 24 May 2024

My son was recently invited to attend trials at U10s level for a League 1 side.

We attended and the format was a lot less structured than I expected, and I wondered if its normal. The trial was;

Arrive, and do a 10 min physical warm up.

Next hour spent as a 9 a side match (ready for U11s next season).

Some of the players had attended previous sessions, and some were there for the first time.

The players were split into two teams, but not given positions. I can understand this format being part of the process, allowing some autonomy etc, but it is harder for the new kids, when playing with established players.

The match ended up resembling a play ground match with a bun fight in midfield.

I expected some drills, and maybe some smaller sided games to be part of the process.

I was asked my sons position when filling the forms in. He is a CM, but due to the format of the trial, only got to play around 5 mins as CM, and the rest in defence.

Is this trial format normal? I havent attended a trial before, so dont know what is the norm.

I could see him being available to sign on a permanent deal.

He's 22 in June, and has struggled to get into the starting XI of two Championship clubs.

I wouldn't be surprised if we signed him on a perm, as a squad player with potential to make the first team.

Does McKenna live in Ipswich?
at 14:37 7 May 2024

Just seen the photos of him helping with the clear up.

I'm not local to Ipswich, so dont know where the staff etc generally live.

But he seems to connect so well to the town and community, I wondered whether he lives in town / suburbs, or out in the Suffolk countryside.

Omari Hutchinson
at 09:19 1 May 2024

One image that sticks with me recently is how absolutely gutted Omari looked after the Hull match.

He had scored two amazing goals, and realistically you could argue promotion doesnt matter to his career as he is destined for big things next season and beyond, whatever happens.

I love how driven he is to succeed with Town, great to see how much he cares. He can go all the way!!

The loan players are all so passionate and committed to the task... credit to them and the coaching / recruitment staff.

Kieffer Moore was beaming last night too!!

Kieffer seeing the ball out for a corner against Norwich....
at 10:39 10 Apr 2024

Seemed like a really bizarre decision at the time, when a pull back was available with a couple of players in the box.

I wondered if this was an indication that he was still struggling severely with his back, and was in pain at that point so either wasnt fully at the races mentally, or just couldnt face twisting to make the pull back.
