Not saying there is anything to this rumour but generally speaking it may well be that our style of play has to change to adapt to the PL. |

That’s the downside. Worth a punt though if our medical people are happy. |

He is! Seems to have lost his way at Spurs a bit but McKenna could definitely get him back on track. |

We’ve been very well played as a club here by KM and his agent! The public auction element of this must have ruffled a few feathers amongst the PR hierarchy though. Would like to have thought there was a better way of handling it but clearly not these days. |
| Forum Reply | My read of it at 17:14 27 May 2024
Or it was all a ploy to get a bumper contract. Guess we’ll never know for sure but we could have certainly done without the circus of the last ten days or so. Not ideal preparation for the new season. |
| Forum Reply | The bottom line at 10:47 27 May 2024
That’s the issue for me. It is reported McKenna is waiting for Man Utd to make a decision regarding their current manager and they are having some sort of review this week, so that’s another week for this to rumble on at least. It must be having an effect on our preparations for next season, presumably we will not move on players McKenna wants until we know he will be here, will players consider coming if things are uncertain? I would also assume Ashton is having to spend a lot of time on the managerial situation which could have been better spent on player recruitment etc. |

It’s the public auction element of this which is disrespecting Ipswich in my view. If he wants to leave to further his career it’s his prerogative but there surely had to be a better way of doing it than this. |
| Forum Reply | If Leeds don’t win this at 16:52 26 May 2024
I would imagine so. Didn’t they have to loan out players at the start of this season to reduce the wage bill? |
| Forum Reply | 100s of empty red seats in that central area at 16:40 26 May 2024
People have been commenting on that since the new Wembley opened. If they must have these corporate seats they should have put them under the cameras not bang opposite. |
| Forum Reply | Let’s stay calm and back our manager as we return to the Premier League at 16:10 24 May 2024
If it is it’s a very risky way of going about things. Rightly or wrongly the impression has been allowed to gain traction that McKenna can’t wait to leave Ipswich, his representatives are meeting other clubs, presumably sanctioned by him, and nothing is being done to dampen down all of the ‘noise’. It’s coming across as very disrespectful to Ipswich frankly. If it is all tactics to get a better deal here it hasn’t done him any favours imho. |
| Forum Reply | Do people even realise the role of an agent? at 15:45 24 May 2024
True, but orchestrating a public relations disaster, which this is rapidly turning into for McKenna, isn’t the way to go about things is it? There are plenty of ways to deal with this without giving the impression McKenna can’t wait to get out of Ipswich. It’s disrespectful to Ipswich and I’m surprised he’s allowed things to go the route they have. |

You’re not wrong but the current level of speculation has got to be harming our preparations for the new season. Are we going to sign players McKenna wants if we don’t know if he will still be here in a few weeks? Are players going to want to come in those circumstances? If he plans to go then he needs to get on with it. If not then he needs to publicly commit to Town and get on with the job here. Having him hawked around multiple PL teams by his agents feels disrespectful frankly! |
| Forum Reply | I have to say at 12:48 23 May 2024
Any idea what the hierarchy at the club think of all this ‘noise’ Phil? If his agent is making waves, which seems to be the consensus of opinion for most of these stories, then KM could tell him to cut it out. Yes agents have their own agendas but if KM wanted too surely he could knock this constant stirring by his agent on the head? If I were Ashton or the owners I think I’d be getting a bit pi55ed off by now! |
| Forum Reply | Fed up with it All at 22:45 22 May 2024
Completely agree. His agent is obviously behind much of the current ‘noise’ but at the end of the day he works for KM and if KM is unhappy with what is going on he could easily stop it. The fact he doesn’t seem to have done so is disappointing. |
| Forum Reply | My tuppence worth at 22:21 22 May 2024
I’m already fed up with the whole thing frankly. No idea what is truth and what is not but if he’s going to go he should just bloody go and give Town time to sort things out. If not say so and get on with the job here. The current situation, if it is allowed to continue for any length of time, is going to cause serious damage to our preparations for next season. It’s going to be hard enough as it is without all this ‘noise’ around us. |

They had a takeover in February though so I assume they are more financially stable now. |
| Forum Reply | Crime: perceptions divorced from reality? at 12:41 16 May 2024
Indeed, that will teach me to read more slowly! However having checked out the methods used by this survey I have even less faith in the data produced. Apparently this is based on a sample size for the 2022 to 2023 CSEW of 34,000 interviews per year (this was reduced from 46,000 in the year ending March 2012). So they are asking less people about their experiences of crime in a country where the population increased by the best part of 4 million between 2012 and 2022. No doubt somebody more intelligent than me will explain why this sort of survey is statistically sound but I still think it’s an exercise in wishful thinking more than anything else. |

As the saying goes, there are lies, damn lies and government statistics! If crime figures are down then for me there are probably two major reasons: 1. The figures are being skewed by how things are recorded/acknowledged etc. 2. People have given up reporting many crimes to the police because they realise it’s pointless in doing so. The police are hard to contact, unless it’s an out and out emergency, and show little interest in following anything up once you do. |
