I just want the remaining hostages to be released, certain ME coutries to retract their avowal to wipe Israel off the face of the earth, israel to stop illegal land-grabbing & indiscriminate killing/destruction, Hamas to stop using an entire civilian population as human shields, and, generally, human beings to stop all their horrifying, stupid wars with each other & to unite over the much bigger threat of climate change facing every sngle human on earth.
Not intended to be a trivialisation - given the form of PR voting written into the Israeli constitution, the Israeli population doesn’t have as much power as some people assume - a minority of religious fundamentalists hold the rest over a barrel.
The majority of Russians aren’t evil. The majority of Israelis aren’t evil. Their leaders are evil.
An intelligent, sane, morally conscious Israeli leader and government would have understood how and why not to go down the path that they have. Always follow the path that your enemy least wants you to. Utterly tragic for all, Palestinians and Israelis alike, that Netanyahu and his fanatical fundamentalist supporters were too obsessed and stupid to realise that.
I think it might help prevent similar threads in future if ones like this* were just locked instead of deleted? As it is, the fact that they can no longer be accessed means just more interminable arguments along the lines of “you said …” “oh no I didn’t” etc.
Think there might be something in that - the last thing any fan wants is to be associated in any way with somehow (possibly) reducing their club’s fortunes.
Down to individual psychology I suppose - could see some managers avoiding their boyhood clubs for that reason - might depend on the owners.
Wouldn’t be a huge shock if family prefers ‘sleepy Suffolk’ to the pressures of Metro Manchester though.
His family have obviously been supportive though, so would no doubt back his choice, but he’s always seemed to me someone who cares about more than money, and I think some people are underestimating how much family happiness means.
I’ve said a few times on here that I used to read the Torygraph too, as it was a good solid alternative source of news even though I was on the other side politically - but that since its quality had dropped like a stone to become as bad as (or worse) than the DM in recent years, I’d stopped.
