| News Comment | McKenna Bookies' Favourite For Brighton Job at 05:58:53
Why would he immediately shoot down the rumours? The more that build, the better contract renegotiation he'll get from us. I expect an announcement within a few weeks (no inside knowledge), and we will all be happy. |
| News Comment | Breitenreiter: Changes But We Have to Remain Professional at 05:07:46
I thought he sounded straightforward and brutally honest. Some players have quit on him, and he is preparing for next season. He's clearly displeased at the state of the squad, and their attitude. Seems to have little hope of prevailing on Saturday, but you never know.. Like others have said, we have to show respect, remain focused and professional and do the job. |
| News Comment | No Dividends For PLC Shareholders at 11:02:16
Solidarity with the aggrieved shareholders. This is a peanuts measure in the grand scheme of things so no need to be cheap and ruthless, and the owners could have added to their deserved goodwill by either treating all shareholders the same or, preferably, buying out the fan/shareholders. Walking on them with disregard (eg no consultations) is very poor form. |
| News Comment | Charlton Boss on Omitting Town Loanees at 04:13:18
If not playing loanees is treating them "badly" and "should not be excused" then I guess Kieran is a terrible inexcusable manager for not playing Scarlett which led to him being recalled. Or maybe it's that the manager has to do what's best for his team, even if the loanees and parent clubs don't like it. |
| News Comment | Charlton Boss on Omitting Town Loanees at 12:32:58
If we were safe from relegation but struggling in L1 we'd have the same attitude, so I can't blame N Jones. Not great our players are caught in the middle of it, but that's the risk of loaning players out. Neither are in our plans, so it really doesn't matter other than perhaps costing us a few quid on a Ladapo transfer. |
| News Comment | Hladky: Contract is Not Yet Signed But I Want to Stay Here at 14:21:18
Great with the ball at his feet, below average shot stopper and poor footwork. I fear it won't be pretty in the premier league. I know some will want to keep most the squad together, but this an area we need an upgrade - a sweeper keeper who can play our style (Nick Pope, perhaps :) ). I don't see a place for Walton as he doesn't suit the style. |
| News Comment | El Mizouni's Season Over at 08:52:00
The plan clearly wasn't to release him in the summer if we turned down bids of six figures in January - we were just holding out for more money. The knee injury may have dented our plans. |
| News Comment | Boatswain Joins Leiston on Loan at 09:19:11
I hope so. Our famed record of developing players has become tarnished recently, with very few successfully produced. People may point to LW, but he is now 25 years old. Cam is the only youngster in the squad, and hasn't cracked the lineup. |
| News Comment | Town Sign Irish Youngster Babb at 05:20:25
Bradley is different though - moved across at 16 and spent his childhood at the Liverpool training centre in NI. So in fairness they basically developed him, instead of simply signing him. |
| News Comment | McKenna: Big Player Ladapo Goes With Our Best Wishes at 07:58:22
Rotherham offloaded him. Listen to the excellent BBC podcast featuring Paul Warne and he/his agent are mentioned several times. He got benched, sulked about not starting and was left entirely off the team sheet. His attitude seems to have been much better with us, credit to him. But let's not rewrite history. |
| News Comment | Assistant Academy Manager Williams Departs at 07:52:28
Read between the lines guys, he was fired. Not many people leave their jobs without another job to go to - and despite being a former footballer doubt he's got enough cash to live comfortably on for life. It's not a sign of anything at PR, sometimes things just don't work out. It was maybe a step too far for him, or his philosophy didn't match the clubs. He's being very gracious about it, which bodes well for him getting another job. |
| News Comment | Schumacher: Red Card a Little Bit Unnecessary at 09:41:45
Why can't we just admit that it was a soft second yellow - we would be fuming if it happened to one of our players! Sure, that's the letter of the law but we can all point to 5 or 10 instances of players asking for bookings every match. I wish refs did book each time, as it would stop it. Same with players responding with 'f1ck off' to every foul. |
| News Comment | Agent: Hladky Priorities Agreeing Town Contract Extension and Promotion at 10:37:25
@Nutkins_Return said it best - great with ball at his feet but below average Championship keeper as a shot stopper and on crosses. I'm sorry to say that if we get to the Premier League he will be massively exposed. I wouldn't be held ransom, there's better keepers who are also good with their feet. If we're heading to the Premier League we should be able to afford a £6m fee like Leicester paid for 23 year old international Mads Hermansen. |
| News Comment | Luongo Announces International Retirement at 09:13:15
It's a good decision. Mass struggles with injuries, and he's also playing for a new contract. That could have been derailed with an injury on international duty followed by a long spell on the bench. |
| News Comment | Robins: They're a Good Side and Up There For a Reason at 02:15:05
Refreshing to see honest, straight forward and complimentary comments from a losing manager. Robins is a good one. Most interesting is that he made it clear that teams now fear us, and become timid. That's fantastic! |
