They were talking about £10-£15m for him last summer when Burnley were sniffing around. If he's available for £4m it could be a very shrewd buy with plenty of upside. You look at Hamer for example who will be £20m this summer. |

Really? I won't claim to know much about him but to be schooled at Brighton and identified by Swansea last season, I'd assume he's pretty sharp with his feet. |

By my reckoning, being generous, we only have 18 first team players (as below) for next season. So at a complete minimum we are looking at 7 signings. If Harness, Edmundson, Al-Hamadi (loan) and Walton went it really wouldn't surprise me. So could be up to 11. 8-10 in for me to impact the first team squad. Would imagine something like 2 x £20m, 2 x £10-£15m, 2 x 0-£10m, 2/3 loans (including one from abroad) and a free transfer or two. I hope we use this opportunity sign a couple of prospects as well that we can loan out to a Championship club. Would be the perfect time to sign Charlie Hughes for example, who we have been tracking for a while. |

I'd like us to pay less obviously, and suspect it probably will end up being closer to what you suggest. When you are amortising over a 5 year contract though, an extra £5-£10m is neither here nor there really in the scheme of things. Getting that deal done early would be big for us. |

Hutchinson is just an absolute no brainer buy for me if we can get him. I'd love to see us really force that one through and capitalise on his relationship with McKenna. Even at £25m on a 5 year deal that's excellent business. We know exactly what he is capable of under this manager and is only going to develop further. As I posted elsewhere, look at the fees the likes of Eze and Olise are being touted for this summer. Omari has everything in his locker to be that good. |
| Forum Reply | Sneaky suspicion about Omari at 11:15 31 May 2024
Look at the fees being quoted for Eze and Olise this summer. And the fees paid for players like Brennan Johnson and Kudus last summer. He's got all the attributes and ability to be where they are within a couple of seasons. He can be whatever he wants to be, especially under McKenna who improved him exponentially last season. |

They also signed too many new players. It's a fine balance, need to keep the cohesion and spirit of the current team but supplement it with some better players (with the right characters) too. We don't need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. |

Think we are going to have to take a couple of these kind of 'risks' this summer. If you want to sign players that are above your level then there is going to be a reason you are in with a shout. See Tuanzebe last season as well. A fit, firing Ryan Sessegnon is a top 6 Premier League player. |

Played further forward as well for Fulham didn't he. Wouldn't see him as Davis competition necessarily as he can play a number of roles. Just a very good footballer and exactly the kind of profile that I'd be excited to see working under McKenna. |

Al-Hamadi is an interesting one for me. Looked incredibly raw and unorthodox but has all the physical attributes to trouble defenders at any level. I don't think he's a bad wildcard option to have off the bench in the last 15-20 minutes of games and strikes me as someone probably better under McKenna's superb tutelage than going elsewhere. He was also injured more or less straight from the date he signed and still really contributed. |

I'd imagine all of these players are absolutely elated that the best manager they've ever worked under (I think we've heard most of them say that at one point or another) is staying. More likely to have unsettled players if somebody new came in that they didn't get on with or rate. |
| Forum Reply | Media Speculation at 10:47 28 May 2024
That is the insinuation though - that he should be committed here whatever else happens/what he is offered or alternatively he is disloyal. Can guarantee McKenna staying is going to be far more healthy for our chances of signing players this summer than him going would have been. |

It's living in cloud cuckoo land if you think out of the goodness of his heart, one of the best young coaches in Europe is going to stay here on Championship money with interest from an established PL club. |

I think number 3 is b0llocks personally. No self respecting, decent manager/coach is going to be happy with having very little or no say. It always becomes an issue for a manager when things aren't going well. See De Zerbi at Brighton. Fine last season when results are going well but when you start to drop off it becomes an issue and the go to 'excuse' that you aren't getting the players you want. |
