Leicester Set to Win N'Guessan Game - Ipswich Town News

Leicester City are close to signing Town target Dany N'Guessan from Lincoln City, according to the Imps. The out-of-contract left midfielder was regularly watched by the Blues during 2008/09.

Lincoln vice-chairman Bob Dorrian says a deal could be completed at this week's Football League chairmen's meeting in Portugal: "I think a lot of things can get done in Portugal.

"The Leicester chief executive is there and it may get done over a couple of pints, you never know."

Frenchman N'Guessan is under-24 and Leicester would therefore have to pay Lincoln compensation despite his contract coming to an end on June 30th. The 21-year-old has been linked with a host of other clubs in recent months.

Lincoln have also again been linked with out-of-contract Town striker Billy Clarke, although with Championship side Sheffield Wednesday believed to be the frontrunners for his signature, the League Two club appear to have little chance of landing the former Irish U21 international.

Notts County, also in League Two, have already made Clarke an offer, while his former loan club Brentford, who he helped to the League Two title last season, have made their interest clear.

Fellow League One sides Norwich City and Oldham, now managed by Dave Penney who was Clarke's boss during his earlier spell at Darlington, are also believed to be in the hunt for the Cork-born striker.

Meanwhile, we understand that boss Roy Keane is close to finalising his first £1 million-plus purchase since moving to the club â€" a new family home in the Rushmere area.

Keane was recently reported to have viewed a house in the locality, which is close to the club's training ground at Playford Road.

The new Blues boss was previously reported to have been thwarted in his attempts to buy another property with the current owner said to be unwilling to sell.
