Murray Wins Cap - Ipswich Town News
Striker Ronan Murray won his 13th Republic of Ireland U19 cap in his side’s 1-0 victory over Ukraine earlier this evening. Chelsea’s Connor Clifford netted the winning goal from the spot in Ireland’s second European U19 Championships elite qualifying group game.
Murray came on as a 77th minute sub, having started the opening game 1-0 defeat to England before being replaced at half-time.
Ireland face group whipping boys Bosnia-Herzegovina in their final match on Monday and are still in with an outside chance of taking the only qualifying place if England lose to Ukraine and they comfortably beat the Bosnians.
Town keeper Ian McLoughlin has been an unused sub in both matches.
Meanwhile, Brian Murphy is still waiting to win his first full Republic of Ireland cap after being left on the bench as his side beat Algeria 3-0 in a friendly in Dublin.
