Finidi Passes Medical - Ipswich Town News

Prospective Town signing Finidi George has passed his medical, has seen the club's facilities and talked terms. George Burley hopes he has done enough to convince the Nigerian to join the club.

Burley said: "I think the talks seemed to go fairly well. I spoke with Finidi and his agent. Everything at this end is agreed so far as personal terms are concerned. He also took the opportunity to pass a medical with flying colours. We've agreed the transfer fee with Real Mallorca and I think the player is keen to come to us, but there are still one or two things to tie up. He has gone back for further talks with his own club."

Burley also emphasised Finidi's class: "What we are buying is quality. He has pace, can take people on and has a good goalscoring record. He did well in three years at Ajax and four years at Real Betis. There is no doubt about his credentials."

As soon as a deal is done Town will seek a work permit for Finidi. Given his status as a regular in the Nigerian side there should be little problem on that front. Finidi will train with Town whilst the paperwork goes through.

Town have been given 2,150 tickets for the match with Sunderland on the opening day of the season. These cost £23 or £17 for senior citizens and juniors.

Away Match Passport holders will receive their tickets automatically, while Portman Plus Gold and Blues Crew members with season tickets can purchase seats from Monday.

From August 8th Portman Plus and non-season ticket holding Blues Crew members can buy tickets and any left will go on general sale on August 13th.
