Murphy, Chambers and Bishop Back in Training - Ipswich Town News

Daryl Murphy, Luke Chambers and Teddy Bishop are all training today and should be in the Town squad which travels to Wales for Tuesday night’s game at Cardiff City. Luke Hyam is now the only player sidelined but the midfielder, who has a hamstring problem, is expected to be available for Saturday’s home match against Huddersfield.

Skipper Chambers and young midfielder Bishop both missed the 1-1 draw with Blackburn due to illness but manager Mick McCarthy says the duo are back at Playford Road: "They’re both training today, so I’m very hopeful that they’ll both be OK.

"Teddy’s trained already for a couple of days and Chambo’s just walked in, he’s looking bright-eyed and ready to go.”

He says no other members of his squad are currently affected by the bug which has been going around the club: "I hope not, not today anyway. Let’s hope we keep it that way."

Six-goal top scorer Daryl Murphy, who missed out at the weekend having picked up an achilles injury while away on international duty with Ireland, will return to training this morning.

"We’ve got almost a clean bill of health," McCarthy added. "Murph’s training today, there’ll be one or two who don’t just because of the game on Saturday.

"We’ll see how Murph is today but he’s training. If he trains fully he’s got a chance for tomorrow.

"There’s only Luke Hyam who is still out and he should train on Thursday. He’s got a chance of being involved at the weekend but not Tuesday at Cardiff.”

McCarthy says he has no concerns regarding his full-backs, despite Tyrone Mings picking up a minor niggle and Jonny Parr having been unable to join up with the Norway squad during the international break, after receiving a late call, due to a groin problem suffered in the Nottingham Forest match.

"They’re OK,” McCarthy said. "I think Jonny Parr is one who will go out and warm-up today but doesn’t do anything else. They do put a shift in, the pair of them.

"And Tyrone the same. It’s kind of a bit optional this morning, I’m more concerned about them being able to run up and down tomorrow evening.

"They’re both OK, I think Ty was in because he rocked his ankle but I’ve not been given any cause for concern that they’ll not be available for tomorrow.”
