McCarthy at Wimbledon-Palace Friendly - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Mick McCarthy was at AFC Wimbledon this evening watching the newly-promoted League One side’s friendly against Premier League Crystal Palace.

Speaking last night at Charlton, McCarthy said he was continuing to look for additions to his squad - "Still ongoing, still trying” - with Premier League loanees among his targets.

Former Blue Connor Wickham scored the opening goal for the Eagles, who won the game 3-2.

Former Blues loanee Jonny Williams isn't in the Palace squad but Zeki Fryers, who spent a spell with the Blues at the end of 2014/15, is in the South Londoners' starting XI, as is ex-Town centre-half Damien Delaney.

Another Blues former loanee, Andros Townsend, is on the bench having recently moved to Selhurst Park from Newcastle United.

AFC Wimbledon: Clarke, Fuller, Meades (Gallagher 74), Robinson, Charles (Nightingale 74), Fitzpatrick (Bulman 67), Parrett (Sweeney 74), Reeves (Whelpdale 67), Taylor (Poleon 67), Beere, Barcham. Unused: McDonnell.

Crystal Palace: Speroni, Kelly (Binnom-Williams 79), Dann (Wynter 72), Delaney (Croll 67), Fryers (Souare 46), Jedinak (Boateng 72), Puncheon (Mutch 79), Kaikai, Bolasie (Lee 72), Campbell (Ladapo 47), Wickham (Townsend 60). Unused: Perntreou, Ward, Berkeley-Agyepong.
