Bent Does It Again - Ipswich Town News

Striker Darren Bent netted his eighth goal in eleven games for the England U21s as they drew 2-2 with Germany in a UEFA European U21 Championship, Group Six qualifier at Hull's KC Stadium.

Bent, making only his second start for Peter Taylor's side, equalised on 50, instinctively heading home a cross from the right, just over a minute after the Germans had gone in front through Kiessling.

The Town striker was involved in the build-up to Dean Ashton's goal two minutes later, but should have converted at least one of three later chances, Ashton also missing a good opportunity.

With England looking set for an important victory, keeper Scott Carson mis-hit a clearance and Hilbert scored an unlikely equaliser for Germany.

Bent has now scored in each of his three games for the U21s at the KC Stadium.

Also in U21 action on Friday was Town trialist Daryl Murphy. The Waterford United frontman played 65 minutes for the young Ireland side as they lost 3-1 to Israel in Tel Aviv.

Murphy rejoins the Blues for a second trial between March 28th and April 1st and according to reports in Ireland recently had a similar spell with Sunderland.
