Former Town loanee David Unsworth is set to join Sheffield United after Portsmouth finally settled his contract. The Blues were keen to sign the 31-year-old permanently but Pompey had stalled on paying up the final year of his deal.
Unsworth, out of favour under new Portsmouth manager Alain Perrin, is reported to have been paid £500,000 as a settlement and is expected to join the Blades on a free transfer.
The one-time England international made his Town debut against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane last season, scoring the first goal as the Blues ran out 2-1 winners.
The former Everton player made 16 appearances in his three-month spell with the Blues.
