The next Mona Lisa

As much as I don’t like billionaires, it’s a terrible painting and I’d want it taken down too.

All Wolves aren’t we?

Do we count as one of the 20 now? Time to start a letter writing campaign to Mr Ashton if so.

Let’s see how long it takes for Russia to claim Ukraine was involved.

Eurovison - Anyone followed it this week?
at 13:49 12 May 2024

It’s not. Russia’s prior success in Eurovision is a form of soft power in Putin’s eyes and the contest is a big deal in Russia.

In fact it’s a big deal all over Europe, the perception that it’s only for the gays and the weirdos is a very UK-centric one. The reason we never do very well is because we don’t try hard enough, we just churn out formulaic songs with dull staging and expect to win because UK audiences are only engaged for a few hours during the final. In Sweden, Italy, and the other successful countries a lot of attention is paid to the entire process and the song isn’t selected behind closed doors by the BBC like it is here.

I went to the national selection final in Sweden a few years ago, it’s like FA Cup final day there.

My top 5 is
1) Finland
2) Ukraine
3) Switzerland
4) Norway
5) Croatia (in the sad absence of the Netherlands)

If one of those doesn’t win it will be a travesty

Unpopular opinion: I wouldn’t have Sarmiento back next season
at 16:42 8 May 2024

The Premier League confuses me. You can only have two loans, so essentially if you want to take a punt on someone you have to buy them. Which makes the squads bloated, stifles the development of so many players who end up being loaned out lower down the pyramid instead, and essentially encourages the egregious spending on players that they now are supposedly so hot on trying to control.

I know it’s not a novel opinion, but the Premier League really is the cause of all its own problems.

Rank these close season events in order of preference….

I quite like seeing the new kits, the rest I’m not really bothered about.

I like the summer, but I like ones like this one even better with an international tournament to gear up for.

Check out the comments on the Bristol Rovers 0-0 Ipswich match report. OP is there along with some quite astonishing takes from some bafflingly thick people.

Nerves wise how does this compare to last season?
at 16:35 3 May 2024

I was nervous before the Hull game, but not since.

Last season I was a nervous wreck in the concourse at Oakwell before the game, and not again afterwards.

We’ve got a hell of a team, I bet they’re not nervous.

Their performance against Leicester was one of the worst I’ve seen from any team in any game. And I watched every game of our 18/19 season.

Think of the partnership with Davis though. Getting on the end of those crosses.

A Cancer Research Sponsorship plea
at 12:21 2 May 2024

Hey everyone,

I’m rather shamelessly taking advantage of the goodwill we all feel the moment to plug my plea for sponsorship to support Cancer Research UK.

The corporate world I operate in has sent a team to play in a football tournament at Craven Cottage at the end of the month. I’m very fortunate to be in that team. Overall we aim to raise around £80,000 for Cancer Research and I’ve been tasked with raising £500 of that.

I appreciate that unlike many sponsorships appeals this one doesn’t really include any form of personal hardship and playing on the pitch at Craven Cottage is a privilege usually reserved for King Morsy and the like rather than a trial. That said every penny raised will go to Cancer Research UK.

If you’d like to donate I’ve left the link below, fundraising started yesterday and the tournament is at the end of this month so it’s a bit of a tight turnaround but a worthwhile one. Any contributions big or small will be gratefully received. Thanks!

Was in Coventry earlier and thinking of doing the same but didn’t fancy sitting on my hands in the home end.

No nerves from me so far though
