They are entirely different things. Even if genetic memory is under research they are still different things. "So to dismiss all concepts that are yet mainstream could put you an area where nothing new is discovered and no new research is valid or worthy. Or any idea or conversation that isn't linear is rubbished outright. In this case, I believe you are not fully informed." I believe this to be a false argument, you are applying too much weight to theoretical research which is at this moment completely unproven. You are essentially attempting to give it equal weighting to established and proven science when that isn't appropriate at this stage. Enjoy your hike, that sounds lovely as does the cheese and wine. You were arguing that genetic memory (as in inherited) existed, something which isn't scientifically proven and the consensus is that it doesn't exist. Collective memory is the sharing and passing down of stories and knowledge. They are totally different things and you shouldn't be trying to equate them. SB |
| Forum Thread | Farage up to his old tricks it seems at 11:29 16 May 2024
Back to spreading lies and misinformation that a certain section of society want to hear: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/article/2024/may/16/who-accuses-nigel-farag "But populist figures including Farage and a number of Tory MPs are lobbying the UK government to block the deal, claiming that it will give the WHO power to enforce lockdowns on countries, dictate policy on mask wearing and control vaccine stocks." When in reality: "Claims that the draft agreement will cede sovereignty to WHO and will give the WHO secretariat power to impose lockdowns or vaccine mandates on countries are false and have never been requested nor proposed. This agreement will not, and cannot, grant sovereignty to WHO." Not content with his lies that contributed towards Brexit he's now trying to get the UK excluded from something that will benefit everyone in the horrible event of the next pandemic. SB |

"It's a very good point... and aligns with my point that nobody actually knows what McKenna wants. Most of the experts on here are projecting what they (and admittedly most other managers) would do. Has anyone actually asked Mr. McKenna wants out of life?" Your taking the stance that he might want something out of life which doesn't involve getting the to the pinnacle of his profession (and admitting most other managers would want to do that) yet you've got no evidence for this and in your words you don't know his mind. Why is your argument valid but the inverse argument that you've taken issue with invalid when both require the same source of evidence? As an aside, it's a bit weird to expect people to reply to every post which might be vaguely similar to yours in an 11 page thread. I assume under this new rule you've invented you'll be replying to everyone (the majority of responders) who voiced similar views to my own? SB [Post edited 15 May 14:28]

The real problem with your posts today is that you're giving Town and Man United equal weighting as clubs and it's simply not the case. If you were to apply an importance weighting to all your pros and cons it would be something like: 90% - it's Man United 10% - all the other things you've listed SB |

What is there to debate? You've declared the opinion of a number of posters invalid because we "can't know McKenna's mind" whilst making an argument yourself which in order to be valid requires you to know his mind. It's pointless to debate with any real vigour given this stance. SB |

Well, for starters, you've not put any cons about staying at ITFC. I think the pros/cons for Man United are somewhat laboured in many cases. Just looks blue-tinted to me. I don't blame you, I don't want His Smarminess to leave either. SB |

It's Man United, very few managers at any club would turn them down regardless of their circumstances. Many might not agree but I believe that to be the reality of the situation. It all really depends on whether they are really interested in him. SB |

OK - since you seem to be in one of those moods today, why don't you provide some examples where a manager from a perceived "lesser" club than Man United has turned down the job. I suspect it'll be a very short list, probably a list of zero names. I am trying to be realistic, you are not engaging with the evidence, instead you're saying we can't know his mind but then neither can you so how can you firmly say you don't think he would go? SB |

Not really, not sure the promotion from L1 to Champ will carry the same weight as the promotion from Champ to PL which both achieved. Both had links to massive clubs and Kompany was most definitely being linked as a future City manager which isn't happening now. Why don't you go listen to the NTT20 here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/01oGyTedpigDQREiNqFvDE They cover it very well. I think comparing the Man United job to staying at Ipswich is a larger case of comparing apples with oranges. We all hope it doesn't happen but we also need to be realistic. SB |

I think this is a pretty naïve way of looking at things. It would be devastating if he left but the fact you think he would turn down Man United is baffling. SB |

If we get relegated this season would they still want him? Kompany isn't wanted by the big boys anymore. If you listen to ntt20 the day we got promoted they cover this pretty well. SB |
| Forum Reply | Guardian reporting McKenna to Man Utd link at 08:14 15 May 2024
You can't honestly believe that he would turn something like Man United down? NTT20 covered this when we got promoted using Kompany as an example. His stock has plummeted this season and he's no longer being talked about fit top jobs like he was before. McKenna will know that. It would be devastating but some realism is needed here. SB |
