McCarthy Pleased With Second Half Display - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Mick McCarthy was pleased with his side’s second half performance as they beat Colchester 3-0 at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, but was less impressed with his team’s display before the break.
"They were very good in the first half, I thought, and I was unhappy with us but we were better in the second half when we sorted a few things out," he said.
"It was organisation. I was a bit annoyed that they couldn’t organise it themselves on the pitch because it was nothing that we don’t do normally.
"But I’ve been there as a player and sometimes it’s all going wrong and you can’t change it and they couldn’t. They needed to come inside and after that we made sure it was sorted out.”
He was happy to see Frank Nouble get on the scoresheet twice and Jack Marriott once after the break: "That was a remarkable turnaround after the first half, that’s for sure.
"Those finishes were good [from Frank] and Jack’s as well. I can’t imagine he was offside for the other one either, that was a strange decision.”
McCarthy says he’s pleased with the way pre-season is progressing: "Everybody’s coming through, we’re all starting to look fitter and sharper, although you wouldn’t have thought that in the first half. But we got stronger, to be fair, and that’s a good sign. I’m pleased with it.”
