The spine of the team

Not having a go at you nodge_blue, but it is starting to frustrate me that peoples pre-conceived notion is that if he manages in the Champions League it can't possibly be with us.

I think the ambition of this ownership group is endless and they will be planning to reach the European competitions within 5 years.

It's the key reason I don't think McKenna will be leaving for Brighton, is the structure of this club, the owners and that journey back to Europe. We're back in the Prem now, and it has happened far quicker and with considerably less money spent than the owners would have imagined. They won't slack off now.

From another Premier League club, who McKenna will then be linked with.
Rinse and repeat.

Brighton sideways move?
at 20:09 18 May 2024

Honestly. And this is honestly without any doubt at all and certainly not with any blue tinted specs on.

We’ll both survive comfortably, I’d have both teams somewhere between 15th and 12th. We’ll probably be lower of the two, but easily safe.

Forest, Leicester and Everton to be relegated

Established EPL Club - I'll give you that one
European Ambitions - Have you been listening to GC20, Mike O'leary, Mark Steed, Mark Ashton and Ed Swartz for the last three years?
Bigger Stadium - They are comparatively about the same size
Managers to Bigger Jobs - Apart from Potter, who turned out to be awful with money, name them.

Jesus wept. Of course they've had higher league finishes, they've been in the Prem whilst we were dropping down the championship and into league one.

They're profitable because they buy low and sell high, which is exactly the same M.O. that we are now on.

What else makes it an upward move?

So your whole argument that it wouldn't be a sideways move is that they are more established than us?

I hope Wolves don't come calling.

I'd happily take Emma Hayes as our next manager.

If you don't mind me saying homer, this thread seems to deliberately designed to elicit an argument with the first person who mentions Hayes being a woman.

You're right, she is a born winner, and her teams do play excellent football.
But 'managed consistently at the highest level'? No.

"Run well and making a profit, so will have money to spend and I would have thought ambitions of regular European football"

In a nutshell, explain how you think the above won't apply to us?

Blimey. Well, that's nonsense.

Yep, and thats how I disagree with the OP.
The Israeli government are barbaric, but the 'state' in and of itself, is not.

In exactly the same way that not all Palestinians are murdering terrorists.

I think, had we missed out on promotion, we'd be in real danger of losing him.

I also think for McKenna, its more than just a matter of pride, wanting to see how far he can take us, he's settled in the area, his kids are settled, his Mrs loves it here too.

All of that, plus the potential of the club, if anyone thinks the plan for the club is simply to exist in this league, to be another, longer term Stoke, then they are very wrong.

He's going nowhere.

about McKenna being favourite for the Brighton job. Try to remember, with management jobs, being installed as favourite at the very beginning is normally a sure sign that you won't be getting it.

Can you do it in a 'what three words' format please? As its Saturday and stuff.
