RIP Ipswich Town FC 08:33 - Jan 18 with 1111 viewsKeno

it is with great sadness that we announce what may be the final demise of a once great and proud football team.

This club which in in the past brought you Ramsay and Robson, enough young talent to fill an England team, nights in St Etienne and days at Wembley has become victim to an owner who just does'nt seem to care enough to even try to make it better anyone, a manager who is so stuck in the dogma of his turgid style that he has drained the life of the club and a bunch of players many of whom arent fit to clean the boots of those who went before them, let alone wear the current shirt.

A resurrection of sorts my be possible but it will need a younger fresh approach and a willingness to accept that rather than aimlessly kicking the ball anywhere it needs to be passed to a player in the same colour shirt and played in such a way that there is possibility of bringing some entertainment and excited.

Fans are today saddened by the prospect of footballing obscurity, angry at players, owner and manager alike and just hoping in the midst of this darkest hour something of the ethos of 'their' club, their Ipswich can ignite in the embers of the current malaise before its too late

Are you in fact descended from William Shakespeare?

I put that down to Elizabethan accuracy.

I work at the club match days and it is so sad to see my home town club at their lowest ebb.

Attendances are now at their lowest and there is so much apathy against the owner and the manager it is unreal.

I hope that Marcus Evans, if he has any feeling or love for the club, make the right decision and sack McCarthy. A new manager needs to come in at the club and start again.

His reaction when Lincoln scored befuddled me. He seemed not to bothered and just shrugged his shoulders.

It was as if he is resigned to his fate. Get Gary Rowett in a young manager and entrust him with a reasonable transfer budget and let him put his stamp on things.

While i like your prose, it's just too dramatic for my liking.

Yes, rebuilding is necessary but I don't have the same problem with ME that others do from a financial point of view, I just hope that he realises that Mick McCarthy no longer does anything positive for his brand or our brand of football.

Lincoln have shown us (and 10 million TV viewers) what's possible with resources far more limited than our own.

It has to start with saying goodbye to Mick and the instalment of a more tactically flexible replacement.

Perhaps some of us fans have to reset our expectations a little and forget that we've been in this division for 15 years as well.

Mick has hoofed the ball into ME's court. Let's see how he plays it.

ITFC is not dead. Long live ITFC.
