No point for UKIP's existence as the Tories have morphed into the anti-EU/anti-immigration/pro-grammar school party.

I'd take issue with your critique of the Tory party. However, there are swathes of former Labour voters in the north of England who wouldn't dream of voting Tory under any circumstances and UKip is their outlet.

Pro-grammar school, if only.

The Tory party as a whole has long been in favour of more Grammar schools, and they now have a leader in favour too. If she called a new election and put it in the manifesto it would be policy within 6 months.

I'm still waiting for you to justify your comment that the Tory party is anti immigration.

Are you? Did you ask me to? How about their long-standing policy to reduce immigration to the "tens of thousands". Is that evidence enough?

While I agree with your point, UKIP were branded as 'racist' and 'anti-immigration' a few years ago when their policy was the same as the Tories position now. You're right about Labour though. They stated in their recent manifesto that they want to control immigration, pretty much confirming they would have to leave the single market to do so.

Free school meals not going to be scrapped either. And therefore most of the funding increase promised won't be delivered (even though it wasn't a net increase, just a juggling between budget lines) Is there anything in the manifesto that they plan to go ahead with? Or was it designed with a shelf life of 6 weeks?

Odd how the Tory voters on here are not complaining that much of waht they voted for is now not going to happen Though I suspect some was merely put in as a bargaining chip to be thrown away if there was a coalition, and they had no intention of following them up.

It all seems very strange to me. Several key pledges have either been dropped during the campaign or since, and that includes a different approach to Brexit from the hard line promised. Is it just poor judgement from the Tories, or clever because they effectively castrate the people who initially opposed these things. But if the latter, how do they keep their core voters happy; those who presumably wanted what was in the manifesto? I can't work them out at all. Either they're farkin useless or superbly devious.
