However, chairman Tony Bloom says securing a place in the top flight has boosted the club's turnover by around £100m for the current campaign.

"The finances of the club were changed virtually overnight," said Bloom.

Some things you can wish for, and not having a place in the premier league isn't one of them, except when it is. Or isn't.

Now put THAT on yer banner.

My point is the increased debt.Yes,turnover is up but no mention of profit. With respect to Brighton,i don't see their spending has guaranteed mid-table,it appears they'll be dragged into the relegation places and possibly the Championship. Is the Premiership the Holy Grail?Maybe not!

No, those of us who watched Indiana Jones know it is a wooden cup, now being used as the trophy for the Carabao Cup, I believe.

The gambled. It paid off. I would imagine they are debt free and have plenty in the bank to fund a promotion drive if they come down. The only reason Norwich seem to be going tits up is that they got a bit arrogant and above their station. If they had kept to their original plan of budgeting assuming they were going to get relegated and investing in a top Championship team they might well still be in the Premier league.

They wished for Prem football.
They didn't wish for increased debt.

You are making a very poor case for not wanting the Prem.

What's this got to do with us? I hope you'll start similar threads about every other footballer who is in the starting line ups over the weekend. To non-league level.

So our increasing debt and rotting in this league means we're in a better situation?
