I somehow missed The Fall growing up - it was easy to develop musical blindspots before the internet and streaming. Can anyone suggest an album to start on please - there's a lot to choose from?!
Hex Induction Hour is my fav, but also The Fall were WELL before my time and I can’t say I’ve listened to ALL of Mark E. Smith’s huge catalogue of work.
There’s a very good documentary on him I forgot the name of worth watching.

Also, check out Zounds if you like The Fall.
I'd also say Hex Enduction Hour as a starting point, but my favourite is Slates.
Probably my favourite band but a LOT of dross to wade through, especially in the later years.
Actually, if you get the 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong compilation that'd be a good place to get an overview of the best choons.

Great band! As Footers said, the 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong album is one of the best for getting to know the band. I hope you enjoy them and then add to your collection. They did a lot of albums. Mark E Smith is very much missed.
Some well good tunes and links on this post already - there's so much stuff Mark E. Smith did, but this is possibly my favourite....
And this is a banger too.
So much good music from Manchester.
Might not be to everyone's tastes but I quite like the Von Sudenfed album he did too.
On another tip, people in this thread may also like Datblygu, who are another favourite of mine and are basically a Welsh language version of the Fall.
