Another day, another brext lie exposed 23:47 - Apr 8 with 1783 viewsHARRY10

"A long-awaited plan by Boris Johnson’s government to replace EU development funds after Brexit will leave the regions of England almost £80mn a year worse off than when Britain was an EU member, Whitehall insiders have warned.

The shortfall for England in the UK’s replacement Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) comes despite a promise in Boris Johnson’s 2019 election manifesto that any British post-Brexit replacement funding would “at a minimum match the size” of EU funds in “each nation” of the UK.

When Britain was a member of the EU, some £1.5bn a year was passed back to the country’s nations and regions by Brussels in structural funds, designed to reduce inequalities and seed investment in businesses, skills and innovation and infrastructure."

Project Fear.

Or the truth will become apparent but many Brexiteers still won't accept it even when it is in their face.

To be fair that’s England - and the world has moved on. We’re all into levelling up now. You need to factor in Wales, Scotland and the bit no longer in the UK but still in the single market

What is it about economic stagnation, removal of employment and environmental protections and open xenophobia that appeals to you?

Yep, you do. Last I heard Wales was due to be about £360m per year down. England is probably the good news story in all of this.

It's no better for performers/music fans as brexit is blocking performers from working in Europe

https://www.nme.com/news/music/white-lies-forced-cancel-paris-show-equipment-det

"White Lies have been forced to cancel a show in Paris after their equipment was detained by Brexit legislation. The group were due to perform in Paris this evening (April 8) but couldn’t after delays through complex Brexit legislation left them without any equipment to play."

Almost daily evidence is now thrown up of how the UK is further retreating into isolation. Meanwhile at Dover -

"Intense traffic congestion around Dover is partly down to “Brexit scenarios”, according to the head of the British Ports Association."

The worrying thing is the UK is trying to delay customs checks on imports to the UK (not taking control of our borders it would seem) as it is not prepared, and could not cope were these much vaunted benefits of Brexit to actually be implemented.

They need us.....baa baa

‘It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled’ - Mark Twain

“Okay, so you got a car, that don’t impress me much.” - Shania Twain.

I’m tired of humouring Brexit now, either those stupid enough to defend it or those now pretending it never happened to save face.

Brexit was a con by some very rich right wingers and Russian foreign policy pushed through disinformation and dodgy social media games.

I think the effectiveness is more exposed, the old bots don’t carry the same sway on Twitter, FB is a dying platform and there is a whole journalism niche dedicated to combatting it now.

Funny to watch them all move onto the next culture wars angle against net zero and trans rights. Anyone still falling for it, give your head a wobble.

Glad I never spent a period of my time here with the cover of the Spectator promoting Brexit as my avatar…

"Nick Allen, chief executive of the British Meat Processors Association, said the delays meant that the UK was losing business, as customers were turning to other countries to source goods at a time when their members' products were in hot demand.

"For Mr Eardley, the delays mean losing up to £800 per truck. He says the abattoirs who use his services are also getting claims for late delivery and loss in value. "We are paying for the driver to be sitting in the truck not being productive and seeing the loss of the revenue that the vehicle could be making."

And this is before the UK introduces the much heralded 'taking back our borders' - checks on imports from the EU. How many years did the Tories have to prepare for import checks ? Perhaps they are short staffed because they counted on EU workers to do the work, then go home at night.

how much has this cost the country in building necessary infrastructure, recruiting and training the extra staff, who are now snowed under with 4million extra forms .................PER WEEK.

It is the economics of the madhouse - huge (and growing) expense to make trading with our nearest neighbours more costly and time consuming.

Was there any warning of this ?

Of course there was. But if you are not too bright, who are you going to believe. Hauliers, ferry companies, customs workers, Importers/exporters, banks, etc or, habitual and known liars such as Farage and Johnson ?

Expect the situation to worsen over the summer as brexiteers finally grasp what it means to be a 3rd country, farmers watch crops rot through lack of workers and the hospitality industry struggles to find staff.

Will it hurt those who funded Brexit, no - will it hurt those who voted for it, yes.
