Why would he choose Celtic over Ipswich?

A move to Scotland is a waste of a move for any player / manager. A pub league with at most half a dozen big games and two in Europe which they invariably lose.

And that’s before you factor in the sectarian nonsense - of which I think KMc is the wrong side of to be considered for Celtic.

Where he’s from and having played GAA I’d say he’s more likely to be Catholic not that it matters, Celtic have had Protestant managers.

You can think that – and I as a Hibs fan can agree that it’s a wonky league with the Old Firm dominance – but it’s still a massive job ESPECIALLY in comparison to Ipswich in the Championship.

Having said that, I think he’ll have a longer-term view and would ultimately be aiming for the English Premier. So that could be with us or by doing a good enough job that he’s offered a Prem gig.

But Celtic might still be too good to turn down if there’s a real offer put to him. And it’s definitely a viable shortcut to a top Prem job as Postecoglou has shown.

Pretty sure anyone who isn't an Ipswich fan, and most who are, recognises that Celtic are a big club and a much bigger job for a manager than managing us in the Championship. If McKenna's aim is to get a good job in the Prem then a season or two of success at Celtic isn't a bad way to get there. If they are genuinely interested then we'd find it hard to persuade him to stay.

I don't see it. I think McKenna knows he's so blooming young in management terms that he can afford another couple of years trying to get us up. He's got plenty of time to get a big club.

Celtic are a strange club to manage. Top 2 guaranteed. Early out of Europe. Win a cup. Rince and repeat forever.

Including one of their greatest, Jock Stein. Think it was Rangers who were more likely not to appoint a manager from the other side of the religious divide.

Rinse and repeat for a couple of seasons and land a big job in the Prem. Not sure how people can't see why this would be an attractive proposition for McKenna, certainly more attractive than managing a newly promoted Championship side.

Celtic automatically qualify for the Champions League Group Stage due to winning the Scottish Premier and the ranking coefficient so at least 6 games in the Champions League against decent opposition and the financial rewards. Granted based on last season in the champions league group stage they may continue to struggle to yield points next season as well, unless....

True but being good at Celtic twice didn't get Neil Lennon anywhere. Or Gordon Strachan. It's hardly a consistently well trodden path to a big club. Saying that I am sure he'd be tempted if he was offered it.

Well we will see.

I just have a feeling that McKenna wont be in a hurry to leave us just yet. The challenge he has here is in many ways more interesting than what hed have at Celtic.

As mentioned before.

Hes got 2 paths.

Continue the one he claimed to be on and that's learning to be a manager.

Or jump ship at a big opportunity at the first opportunity and ignore the development phase of his journey and just go for it.

If its gonna happen it needs to happen soon as we basically lose a management team thats been larger than some squads sub benches.
