I nearly asked ( but didn’t dare) how fans are doing getting home tonight. I went to see off a young friend on his maiden voyage on HMS Prince Phillip from Pompey on Sept 1st. Absolute nightmare getting home through the Dartford tunnel ( took an hour just to do that but)… then there’s junction 10 roadworks ( another 45 mins). Oh yes, then debacle that is the A effing 12 which closes at night FFS! It took over 6 hrs to travel 165 miles …. The roads in this country are horrendous…. Then there’s the complete “roadwork” of the whole of ipswich it seems (roads closed which seem to pop up over night).

I’d do the Heathrow route of the M25, but then there’s the M4/M25 junction which has been a roadwork for a decade it seems. Think the best thing they could do is simply blow up Greater London! Makes ya want to spit nails….

Just got into bed.

Been up since 5am Tuesday with the exception of a 40ish minute nap at lunchtime.

Damn bloody A12, 2 closures on that! Worse than the M3 one IMO.

Mine pulled in at 3,07am at Portman Rd

Redkon id have been 2 hours quicker on two wheels, but the high winds make for sh1tty conditions so probably best on the coach todqy

Mine was back around that time. It took the M25 Heathrow route followed by M11 and A130 to miss the Chelmsford diversions on the A12. Still had to go right through Colchester from Marks Tey though. Back home around 3:30am and now at my desk at work

Went to International T20 game at Southampton a few years ago. Closures on A3, M3, M25 & A12. Sat Nav took us home via Newbury, M4, M25, A1, A505 & A14.

Have driven to Portsmouth or Southampton areas six times this year. Each time journey time was around an hour longer that it ought to be due to roadworks, and other hold ups.

We went that option which seemed to be quicker. Got to the car at 10:15 and home the other side of Ipswich by 1:40 including a quick McDonald’s stop.

drivers sat nav stated that M11 was closed at Harlow which is why we didn’t come back via M11.

Saw the M6 was closed and came out of Southampton a different way around the back of Eastleigh. Got home at 1:55, judging by others in this thread we chose well!

I was back by 1am, but then I do live 45 minutes west of Ipswich. I'm marginally closer to Cambridge than I am Ipswich, so M11 / A11 / A14 is always the way forward, and generally seems to behave itself.

Live in Cambridge and got back at 01:30. Took an hour to get out of Southampton/Eastleigh and then had to laugh as successive signs on the M25 told me that both the A1M and M11 were closed at points. Ended up taking the A10 all the way up which was a bit eerie as pitch blank and completely alone for the best part of an hour.

Ouch. Its a bit of an arse where the ground is located, but I seemed to get away quite quickly to be fair.

I had an absolute shocker on the way back from Bristol Rovers last season. I lost count of the number of diversions, pretty much every road I needed had some issue. At one point I was even following the team bus through some little town in the ar5e end of nowhere. Then I was so hungry I found a 24 hour McDonalds, and it summed my night up when I pulled up and it was closed for some reason. Think it was 4am by the time I got home, after a 0-0.

Mad that was only 31 weeks ago, the night we looked like we had spooned it all up and Morsy was arguing with fans. Some ride we've been on since that night.

Absolutely - am sure 95% of fans would have done exactly that had the planned M3 closure been highlighted to them!

Anyhow - did you get home after 3am for the S'oton match can be added to the superfans category - along with going to watch Grimsby away midweek :-)

Back to the Guide Dog pub for a couple of celebratory pints after the match, then cycled over the bridge and down to Weston Parade where I'd parked the campervan for the night.
Up at 8.00. Home via M3, M25, A414, A1(M), A505, M11 etc to north Suffolk at 1.00 pm.
