Birmingham have got some ambitious plans 15:16 - Apr 9 with 1126 viewsIllinoisblue

New stadium and massive redevelopment of surrounding area. Be interesting to see if relegation does indeed change their thinking, even though they say it won’t.

Motor sport for the community kicked into touch by a football club again.

Who do they think they are? AFC Wimbledon?

The almighty $$$ is speaking louder than ever in English football. Where it all ends is anyone’s guess but you can see why English clubs with potential and large fan bases are seen as good investment; the Seattle women’s team - who get average gates of 13k - was just sold for $58million.

they've not long rebuilt (and re-furbished) 3 sides of the ground anyway?

Didn’t they have to do that as it was unsafe and didn’t meet code?

It looks like such a long term plan that I doubt relegation will impact on the timescales.

Must have some impact, surely. Home to Barrow on a wet Tuesday night in December isn’t going to fill the “Sports Quarter” with people.

Structural issues with the stands. Had to perform the work or face forced closure of the ground.
Not really a rebuild

That development will take 4-5 years before a spade gets put in the ground, which is when the real expenditure starts.

Most of the work over the next couple of years will be getting through the planning process etc.

If they are also looking to sell parcels off for resi etc, that probably wont be hugely impacted by the status of the football club.

Sounds good, but given the level of competence their owners have demonstrated so far *cough Rooney*, the owners will probably build it in Alabama by mistake…

Yep, and they were all built with issues in the concrete.
I think they probably got them to Tarmac the car park too.

Closer to 25 - 30 years old. The Railway End is slightly more recent, between 20 - 25 years.

Still relatively recent in the grand scheme of things- there’s a general disrepair about the place though, a little like PR became in latter Evans years.
