I'll prescribe to the pro Saints school of thought if Leicester lose to WBA. As it is, Leicester could feasibly win 3 and lose to Southampton (97 points) meaning we need 3 wins to pip them. Southampton win them all they're on 96, meaning we possibly need 3 wins given their GD now. Leeds could be the least of our worries.
Simplicity says the less teams capable of top 2 the better for our chances. Neither Leicester nor Leeds will fancy playing Southampton regardless, I'd rather remove them as a variable. Still, that ain't happening tonight.
Either way there's no point 2nd guessing, loads of twists and turns to come I'm sure. Lets beat Hull that's all we can control. | | | |

Yeah we've looked visibly cooked lately. Davis bless him has been flogged through necessity, and he's as fit as a butchers dog, but even he's been characteristic of someone without the running power he demonstrated earlier in the season. Burns, Clarke, Moore getting fresher, Hutchinson, Chaplin, I expect they'll all benefit from a break.
Hopefully we find ourselves against a Hull side with little to play for, and get the win. I fancy us against Cov tbh, their schedule is a joke and they might well be out of the playoff hunt themselves.
Ultimately if we go 5 games without a win at this stage (Norwich, Watford, Boro, Hull and Cov) then we wont have done enough to get promoted anyway. | | | |

We see Leeds as a threat because they're 2 points behind us with better GD. But we want Southampton to also be 2 points behind us, and they're GD will also be better. And we then want Southampton to win two further games, with their only match unaccounted for then being a home tie against Stoke. I've said my piece. 😅 | | | |

In terms of results of other teams, I would have thought worse case scenario is S’ton dropping off and them being on the beach against Leicester and Leeds. We’ll probably need both those two to drop points. Maybe, but who knows. We could as easily carry on dropping points as we could win the last three, so it could be in our own hands or not.

I'm confident they'll go with their strongest side until it's mathematically impossible. I suspect Martin would play his strongest side even if they were only fighting for 3rd. Finishing position matters to managers. He doesn't want to be beaten by all of the top three. | | | |
