Pretty sure it was 2 points for a win during this era so the yank did know his stuff! A win only returned three points from 1981 to try and avoid away sides always just going for the draw...bit like the away goals rule changes in european football etc

That's right. Also, I think we would have won the league one year if it had 3 points for a win (1975?)
