Bicycle club on Regent Street. Smokeworks for BBQ type food. Millworks is lovely too. Pho for Vietnamese food on Wheeler Street. All fantastic in their own capacity.

Drinks in the pint shop if you're not driving. Fantastic range of beers and gins.

Cheers, we went to Smokeworks last year and really enjoyed it, so probably give the other two a look

As much as I love a burger, think the wife might want something a little more refined!

There's lots of good options.

Budget?

Preference for British/Italian/French/Indian/Chinese/Thai/etc ?

Priciest: Midsummer House. One of the best restaurants in the country. Not easy to find on Midsummer Common- allow time. 5 course lunch £56.50 plus drinks plus service. If you can get a seat at this notice. http://www.midsummerhouse.co.uk/menus

Pricey: take a look at Alimentum: https://restaurantalimentum.co.uk/ £35 for 3 courses plus drinks and service, or £60 for 7 course tasting Menu. Michelin starred.

Lovely country pub just outside Cambridge: The Cock Hemingford Grey http://www.cambscuisine.com/the-cock-hemingford No lunch deals on Saturday 2015 Cambridgeshire Dining Pub of the Year, Michelin recommended

Thai, central Cambridge (quiet, lunch deals and main menu) http://lukthai.com/ from about £10 on a Saturday

Lots of other options from decent chains like Loch Fyne and Brown's through relaxed pizza pub The Red Bull http://the-red-bull.weebly.com/ and Cambridge institutions like Cambridge Chop House http://www.cambscuisine.com/cambridge-chop-house/

Cambridge and St John's Chop houses are both always good. Decent price range and good quality.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

I'm sure the Michelin star will impress her! It was very nice indeed.

The Midsummer House, on the far side of the Cam and Midsummer Common has two stars. And prices to match.

Short stroll along Chesterton Road from Magdelene Bridge.

This is also near the Midsummer House.

Bit off the beaten Cambridge track but The Wrestlers do the most wonderful Thai food. Sublime.

If there's a Beatles tribute act playing, don't join the in with them or tap your knife & fork on the table in time with the music. These acts will get you kicked out, I found.

Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

Bit like when I went to the opera, they don't like you joining in do they?
