Madrid in the summer 20:50 - Apr 22 with 669 views | kizaitfc | Anyone been to Madrid around July- August time, heard it can get very hot at times just wondering if anyone on here has any advice on when t avoid. Went to Rome in August a few years back and it was hitting the 40's everyday. Also any suggestions on nice Spanish cities to visit around the coast Thanks in advance!

Madrid in the summer on 22:42 - Apr 22 with 604 views | JakeITFC | It does get very hot, and it is very central in Spain and there aren't many spots to get out of the sun in the city, so the days can feel very long. That being said, you're about an hour away from the mountains and gorgeous places like Segovia which are cooler due to the altitude (and really, really beautiful). Plus Madrid is great, so the heat definitely shouldn't put you off - just rest in the day or get in galleries or museums at the height of the sun.

Was there in August 6 or so years back and it didn't go below 34 the 2 weeks we were there, I didn't do much in Madrid itself but can agree regarding Segovia and Toledo which are both a ride away from Madrid [in "opposite" directions].
