whereas i want a labour government.

claiming a victory now is sadly an alternative to working out why we didn't win.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Yes, the country needs a genuine opposition. Maybe Corbyn can be that this time round, unlike the last 24 months?

The point, as I've said many times, is that this is a victory of sorts for Labour. No-one expected them to win outright, it was a case of reducing the majority as much as possible (many thought this wouldn't happen either). They've done that so much that the majority is gone, they're doing deals with terrorists, and you've cancelled your membership of the Tory party in protest (rightly so).

If that's a win for the Tories it's the most hollow one ever. And it's not game over yet anyway. There's a lot more to come and the tide is with JC and Labour. I predict it won't be that long before we see the Tories implode and a Labour government. That was unthinkable just a few weeks ago.

It won't be long until we have a Labour government.

I've worked out why Labour didn't win. It's the likes of YOU!

You got this election entirely wrong, and as he says in the video (did you even watch it?!) if the likes of you had supported your leader you'd probably have that Labour government now.

You should be reflecting on that.

It's a bit like the participants up the road, claiming victories for just taking part in a contest. Truth is that 3 elections in a row that Labour have lost now.

Corbyn has done well to bring Labour back to the level where they were, when Gordon Brown lost in 2010.

He's a brilliant campaigner, a fighter for causes, but is he a Prime Minister and for the main, are those he has surrounded himself with in the Shadow Cabinet up to the job?

Keir Starmer is clearly an outstandingly intelligent man, but i'm not seeing many others who haven't been ostracised by Momentum

the labour party was very disciplined throughout the election - none of his party opponents departed from the manifesto is the slightest. they supported it and corbyn's leadership. i suspect that the fact that corbyn had faced opposition played in his favour - it built him up as the insurgent non-mainstream candidate.

i certainly got the numbers very wrong - but i was entirely correct that he didn't win. i also underestimated how appalling may and the tories would be. the worst tory campaign in history. he still didn't win

so what does the party need to do now to win? how does it retain tories who were disillusioned by the utter uselessness of may, and how does it broaden its support further? it has every vote from the left it can ever get - so it now needs votes from the centre - how do you think it will get them?

Yes, same here. Pretty much bang on and skewers the party political fan boys who have misjudged the electorate (and the reality of what the country needs to reverse a dreadfully narrow path forward).

Hope not fear — keep repeating that message and attracting politicians and media pundits who can embrace that and we might actually develop a political class worth a damn.

It's a bit like us now. After a while you get used to mediocrity and before you know it you celebrate small wins as if we've won the league.

By carrying on as it is. The tide has turned and is with Labour. A second election and Labour would win IMO. This is down to JC - who many of you said would have the opposite effect.

Well done on saying Labour wouldn't win. Hell of a prediction that. I don't know a single sane person that said otherwise. This election was about reducing the majority (a tough ask in itself). A win would've been nothing short of a miracle.

It's not over but you will have to wait another five years for a GE.

What the Tories have to do in that time is-
1) secure a soft brexit with cross party support
2) scrap tuition fees
3) make Preetie Patel leader to win the identity politics

"A second election and Labour would win IMO". great.

now let's talk about how. in my experience you don't win an election by re-fighting the last election. the issues in the next election will be different form those in the last.

how do you get the disillusioned tories who wanted to protest against may to vote labour again (when may has gone)? they voted last time safely in the knowledge that labour wouldn't win. how do you get more tories to switch across? how do you broaden support for the party - there is now no possibility of broadening it on the left.

again, the question after a defeat is how you win next time. simply more of the same won't do it. support needs to widen and it can't widen on the left.
