The case against more short-termism 10:29 - Dec 30 with 560 viewsgordon

I'd be in favour of short-term signings if we were in a relegation fight, a point above or below safety. We're not. We need the form of a top 8 team to stay up from here. We'd need 4 or 5 very, very good players to be anywhere near, the chances that we'll do it are vanishingly small. We have the worst defence and the second worst attack in the league.

If we sign too many loans/short-term contracts now we're just going to be in more of a mess next season in League 1 when they disappear with rest of the higher paid players.

I'd rather we work out who's going to be here next year now and give those players a chance to show some fight and pride. i.e, get rid of Bart and Knudsen now, see if Kenlock, Donacien, Nydam or Folami look like they can do a job in League 1.

The horse has bolted and disappeared right across the field, and we need to deal with that, rather than try to patch up one of the sh*ttest stable doors we've ever had.
