Anyone seen the film 'Harriet'? Just finished on BBC1 01:27 - Sep 29 with 306 viewsRyorry

Based on true story of Harriet Tubman nee Araminta Ross, born into slavery (what terrible, ugly words) in Maryland, 1822. Managed to escape to freedom in Philadelphia, went back numerous times as a 'conductor' in the secret 'Underground Railroad' netork to rescue family, friends & others, went on to be a vocal activist, abolitionist, scouted for the Unionist army in the Civil war (& I think once led troops on a raid).

Absolutely extraordinary woman - much more to her than the above - who to my shame I'd not heard of before. Very inspiring - the first BLM activist? The film probably rightly in ciinematic terms only has 4* rather than a 5* rating but was very moving & gave a good introduction to her life.

Poll: Why can't/don't we protest like the French do? 🤔
